I excluded schools that have been open less then 5 years.  4A has by far the highest concentration of such teams.  3A has the lowest such concentration.  Central Florida is most highly represented.

It is sad to see Evans and Winter Springs on the list. Both of these programs have been good in the past. Evans back in the 1990s and the first two years of the new century were actually one of the best teams in the Orlando area. Winter Springs have made the playoffs and won playoff games. WS was hurt, to some extent, by rezoning due to new schools and the loss of what had been a good staff. Evans was hurt (and continues to be), by the loss of talent to other schools in West Orange County. This has been exacerbated by unfriendly school administrations to sports and by, up to the last two years, strength in the soccer program (the large Caribbean influence at the school).

Contrast the above two with: Cypress Creek, Celebration, Colonial, Poinciana, etc, which have never been really good.

We talk so much about individual player transfers, Darter.  I sometimes wonder if other things like rezoning have just as much, if not more of an impact from a big picture perspective.  ...or poor planning, ie news schools opening up and quickly maxing out, forcing them to play in 7A/8A as brand new programs.  Without having details, such as you provided, one can draw the wrong conclusions about why a program has fallen off.  Some of these things are really outside the control of players and coaches.

All of the above affect a program's ability to be good. Also, not having an administration that is interested in sports leads kids to either transfer elsewhere or just not suit up at all. Both Evans and Winter Springs have suffered to a degree from both sets of circumstances. They both need a catalyst to get back on track.

    • Consequently, Lake Minneola has just announced it has cancelled spring football.  What goes around comes around.
    • And lastly with the district classifications changing. Dillard new district foes atleast for the next two years are as following    *Northeast *Suncoast  *Boynton Beach  *Dr.Joaquin Garcia    never heard of that last school, I’m assuming they’re a new program.    but a district with no STA, GIBBONS, AHP, CHAMINADE, ELY, MIRAMAR, & ETC lets see if Dillard is still a above avg program & can run away with this district and be one of the top teams in broward.    or if they fell off even more from last year & this district will be a lot closer then most predict. Guess we will see.
    • They also just won the 7on7 broward county showcase a few weeks back. So hopefully that spills over to the fall season.    I know we got a new DC & OC this year & the quarter back spot is up for grabs. Especially after last years below avg offensive production. So we will see how things are shaping up against a very solid monarch squad in the spring game May 23rd @ Dillard.
    • They bring almost 80% of the roster which was 9th & 10th graders. They got a few transfers in but nothing crazy. Atleast not yet.    from my sources it looks as if the the second year head coach for Dillard is trying to rack up some wins under his belt & not scheduling above the talent he actually has which will either A. Get him fired after this season or see more kids transfer out or both.    if Dillard can go 8-2 or dare I say undefeated & have a deep playoff round (regional finals) that could One really put the program in a bright light for transfers & also instill a winning culture back in the storied program.
    • They were a Lake County all star team because they were taking all of the Lake County players.  First Academy hired the Lake Minneola recruiter and he took a bunch of the players with him to First Academy.  Now Lake Minneola has a depleted roster with a tough schedule.  The coach wasn't aware of this until he arrived and saw the roster.
