Fun? That doesn't seem like a very lawyer-like "perspective" to me.  Finding out all the facts, and making cold-hard analysis based on that seems like the correct course for men and women who wear expensive pinstriped suits and stylish Italian shoes in the "office" for a living.

I see we got them week 8.
@fishspinners maybe Hardee and Palmetto will renew the rivalry soon. Coach Kemp hasn't been one to shy away from competition

Have they gotten any major transfers?

I see some good talent including a 3* Alabama commit but I wouldn't say loaded at least based on what is reported on their team profile but in all fairness I don't think many transfers statewide have been updated to their team so if they have picked up a bunch of transfers they may have more players who may get listed in August

But I agree they should contend in 4a and I have them top 10 in the 4A classification

They will always be well coached and have athletes as long as Cory Moore is the coach.

I agree 100%, but as others have pointed out in earlier post our legislature has legalized it.  Our man from Columbia deserves cudos for spotlighting this problem involving both public and private schools.  I think it is an easy way out for kids when things get tough or uncomfortable.  Pro sports builds super teams, recruiting in college is a sleezy endeavor, the transfer portal now and high school is going down the same path.  I hate it.  I would prefer we took our lumps every few years when personnel is down to have an even shot those years when we have talent.  I will still bleed Blue & Gold.

Here is some friendly advice my boy, My Glades Central Raiders  hasn't been the same 2011. Ive Watch my team destroyed by the same team (Booker T) 5 years in a row, have to deal with community full of over the top critics  that expect us to be a top 10 team in the state every year, and seen coaches come and go more than you'll see in a lifetime. I never turned my back on my them neither should you.

Look at my boy Dillard lol. He bragged about his panthers no matter what win or lose. Look at him and his boys  now complete turn around. Stay home and stay humble my friend.

No! You Continue To Cover Your School, it’s Not About Who Stays Or Who Goes iF You Bleed purple, White & I think Gold if I’m not mistaking then You Bleed Your School pride Regardless Of The Fact.

I Have Never Stopped Rooting For Dillard, Covering Them or Going To The Games. And we’ve had a lot of bad seasons, every year or every other year coaching changes & Through it All I’ve Still Bled Blue & Gray.

for decades we Couldn’t keep players home, Now Not only Do we keep them for the most part, other kids from other schools want to come in and be apart of our program..
for decades we couldn’t keep a coach & within the last 3 years we have had two of the best coaches 1, of them my friend who suddenly passed away in 2020 after going undefeated and getting coach of the year in his first year.

we went from being a laughing stock and disrespected to now being a top 10 school in all of south Florida, we’re on a 24 game win streak, we won the first Annual tri county championship & were coming back even better this year.

point is @ColumbiaHighFan2017class regardless of how bleak it seems now, regardless of how frustrated you may be with the front office now, you don’t jump ship you hold it down and be the face of Columbia high school.

Yes that is very true.  I can remember when Wakulla won in 1980 and 1981 their toughest game was always against a north Florida team that they would meet in the first round of the playoffs.  Back in those days only the district champion advanced to the playoffs and state championships were played on campus.  Two years in a row Wakulla had to travel.  One year they played at Clermont and the next year at Clewiston.  They won both games pretty easily.
One of the best games I remember from that era was in 1981.  Wakulla played Bolles in the semifinals.  Bolles had talked a lot of trash the week leading up to that game.  They did not expect to get beat and Wakulla blasted them 38-0.  Wakulla had a great team that year.  They had 8 shutouts heading into that game with Bolles.  They shut them out and then shut out Clewiston 24-0 in the state championship to finish the season with 10 shutouts.  Thinking back on it...that was pretty impressive.
I don't know what the answer is but I do wish something could be done about all of the transferring.  It's going to ruin high school football.  It's definitely not just private schools.  In a lot of cases you end up playing against an all star team from a metro area where probably over half of the kids on that team would be attending a different high school if they based it on where the kids actually live.

Columbia's best players are as good as the best anywhere else. The problem is: in a typical year, you don't have enough of them at all the positions on the field to go the distance. And, given geographical considerations, it is unlikely you will under the current rules of the game.
Back in the day, before recruiting became widespread, and before transferring was aided and abetted by State government, every five or ten years, despite being a small city, Columbia could put together a team that could compete at the state level, despite having holes in some areas. Today, with transferring made easy, it is a very daunting task for Columbia to win a state title even if it gets to the title game. When you have the entire starting secondary leaving one school to join another 10 or so miles away, in a sense it makes a mockery of what high school football should be.
Yes, on some level, you get a few super teams that could compete with some small colleges, or with the national powerhouses (mostly private schools) but at what cost? Beating the hell out of their peers who lost out in the recruiting wars and have been depleted as a consequence?

I'm ok with a legit transfer coming in from a legit move. But when a team is getting multiple transfers from neighboring schools, it defeats the purpose of classification. I've said before, the number of transfers needs to be limited or teams need to be moved up in class.

You assumed that I meant that the South Florida schools would all fall in a low rated academic classification. I keep seeing loads of transfers in South Florida and no one ever mentions it's for an IB program or going to an "A" rated academic school. It's almost always to play football in a dominant program.

So, now there's a kid at Bolles who plays OL, another who plays DL, another who plays LB and one who plays TE that all finished up their season this past year and all four of them thought they'd be starting (again?) for the Bulldogs this fall.  And now they probably won't be.  Or they'll be starting at another position but the kids who would have been starting at those positions now won't be.    So, conceivably, there are four families shelling out $30K a year in tuition who thought they would be watching their sons playing for Bolles this coming season who, instead, likely will be waving down to their boys during the game, after having told them before the game to "stay ready in case someone gets hurt."
Yeah, I understand the reality.  I know good schools, good coaches and good kids will always attract kids who want to be a part of a successful program.  But, when one school picks up 4 or 5 quality transfers in one off-season, it certainly makes me wonder what's going on just a little.
