First, thank you Josh for adding a National Forum to your site!   I read much of your posts online and also sadly enjoy seeing your annual moving van list of 100+ HC changes in FL  (the sad part of course is the # of changes being 100+ annually).

I look forward to posting in the FL forum and if this national forum gets into the groove, same here.

I will have weekly Florida rankings each week on the main part of the website. We are doing a new ranking here which is going to be a hybrid of voters voting and strength of schedule and other data calculating things out like a BCS-style ranking. Going to be fun.

Are national posters allowed to post in the Florida section if its Florida related/or in reply to an open going thread?

Maryville lost by how much in state title game, 13? 16? 17? Something around that?

They went 14-1. Lost to Ravenwood 26-17 in the final

Yup I saw that game on score stream and was surprised since it seemed that in some way it was leading to be same result then Maryville lost despite being very high in maxpreps poll, so why Maryville > Ravenwood this year? I'm not familiar with Tennessee so I'm curious

Tennessee = Brentwood Academy. And this year Montgomery Bell Academy.

Both Academies... wonder if Ga will play them?

You will find many good teams in each state, but little more than 1 or 2 elite teams in most states if some states even have an elite team.

Texas, California, Florida, Georgia, Ohio, New Jersey usually have 2 or more elite teams every year. Could add a few more states some years like Maryland, South Carolina, Mississippi, Oklahoma, Kentucky... etc.

Ohh ok, I didn't know we were talking specifically about elite, thought we just talking about good teams

BA been very good last few years, also notice they don't play Ravenwood despite being from same city, kinda surprising 2 good teams from same city not playing but oh well I guess I Dont know how things work there

The only team to beat 6A Ravenwood last year was 5A state champ Independence.  They, along with BA, are in the same county.  But, publics and privates don't play well together.  Long and complicated history that is ever-evolving.

A new high school opened up and took about half of Ravenwood's freshmen and sophomores.  More importantly, it took the Head Coach and a lot of the coaching staff.  Ravenwood had an excellent senior class last year.  They have lots of question marks this year, and Maryville is very good every year.  They have a great system and a great coach and staff.

Well, Ravenwood actually will have a pretty good chance of making it back to the state title game.  There, obviously, anything can happen.

Most of the really good teams will be on the other side of the bracket.  According to the "experts", Maryville and Murfreesboro Oakland are the 2 best teams in 6A and will have to play each other in the semis at the latest.  Maryville is a machine and has played for the state title something like 13 years in a row.  Great program.  Oakland is loaded this year with some great talent, and their coach is in his second year.  Oakland's region is very tough.  In their first game last week, Ravenwood scored 13 points in the final 8 minutes for a 23-19 win against the 6th best team (according to MaxPreps) out of 8 in Oakland's region.
