Manatee will get boat raced in this matchup so I hope they get something out of it like a payout or transfers in that makes it worth the embarrassment.

Manatee has balls to put this matchup on their schedule I'll give em that

What if this is a ploy to get to transfers and promise more exposure. Street agents are hard at work, "if you come to manatee you will get some great film going against Bosco". Potential transfer, "jeez mr street agent, that sounds great. I will tell my mom and dad to put in for school choice". And then they proceed to lose by 50 with no highlights. SMH

I don’t give credit to irresponsible coaches who put their kids in a literal no win situation. Setting them up to fail hard. I get wanting a challenge, but a challenge is something that is difficult but can be achieved. They have zero shot in this. Hell they got their asses handed to them by Lowndes and they were light years better last year than they will be this year. They graduate everybody. And there isn’t talent down there so great that just by going to Manatee makes them a contender.

Imagine you are a player, and the adults in charge sign you up for an impossible task, and you are the one who has to experience the curb stomping ass beating up and down the field for 4 quarters. I would be pretty pissed

Wouldn't it be wonderful if the FHSAA set up a system that would encourage outstanding teams to play other outstanding teams and bad teams to play bad teams? If only someone could think of a system that did exactly that.

You would still have bone headed coaches prostituting their team out to some elite program to come take advantage of. SMDH

You don't have any idea what Manatee's team will look like come August. Certainly, the team that last year probably should've beaten STA was good enough to hang with a Bosco team that probably wasn't as good as STA. Roster turnover is now the norm and, by itself, tells you very little about the upcoming team's prospects. Sure, Bosco will enter as the clear favorite. But, I think your criticism of Quezzy has been over the top. Let the next 5-6 months play out and have an open mind as to how the game could turn out.

The best players from all of Manatee County couldn’t leave today to head to Manatee to give them a snowballs chance in hell. And they won’t get anyone from Venice or Tampa that will put them over the top.

They lose EVERYONE from a team who was curb stomped by Lowndes and Lowndes would get killed by SJB.

“Quezzy” is just a clown sending his team to slaughter and they will have to live with it forever. I know 40 year old adults who remember losing by 50 and 60 in Pop Warner! This is those type of games. These kids will be telling their kids and grandkids they were forced to get their skirts lifted by 40 or 50 at the behest of their clown coach

And I’m not trying to single out “Quezzy”. Every coach who schedules a powerhouse with an inferior team is an irresponsible clown. Prostituting their team out to some national powerhouse for them to get a cheap and easy win. There is a TON of these punk coaches in Florida and they do it every year!

Like I said, it’s cool to challenge your kids but to reach so far up to the point you have no shot and get your ass killed is stupid and makes for a mockery of the sport

The Lowndes game was a far away road game, with GA officials, which was a 2-TD game. Total yardage was 347-304. "curb stomping" is laughable hyperbole.

The STA game, like the Bosco game will be, was a home game that Manatee led for most of the game, lost their best offensive skill player, and lost 16-13. There was no real evidence that 2024 SJB was better than 2024 STA. SJB is also in some hot water at the moment, and that may impact their roster.

If I was a betting man, I'd bet on SJB to win. But, your commentary has been silly. That's on brand for you, but doesn't make you right. It's far too early to be THAT sure that a disaster awaits Manatee.

Manatee is one of, if not THE, winningest program in state of Florida history. Green has been in place long enough to think it's possible he has them rolling more so than they had been in years past. They were a top 10-12 team in the state last season. Certainly, they would've figured to be in the game with Bosco in Bradenton last year. We can't be sure what 2025 will bring, but saying they have no chance and are "prostituting" their team is absurd.

They lose every single player who played with a pulse last year. And there isn’t enough transfers who are D1 that will make a 40 point swing of an impact. It’s a waste of a game.

So does a program get a lot of money for scheduling a game like this?  It could be a paycheck game similar to how FCS opens at some power five stadium to take a beating and a game check.

So, if I put on my Vegas hat and set the line right now at 22.5 points (SJB being favored), who are you taking?  Is that a fair line?

I'm of the opinion that it is too early to decide either way. And I'm not a betting man, But, I'm inclined to take Manatee with those points.

The only thing that keeps this game within 23 points is the refs. That area of the state is notorious for having the most crooked refs.

Again, you have no freaking clue at this point. You're making the mistake of projecting based on the average squad in the last 5-10 years for these schools. If that's what it really end up being, than I can agree with the large margin. But, we definitely do not know that will be the case here in early March.

The worst officiated game I have ever seen live at any level of football was at Manatee against Don Bosco from New Jersey back in 2011. That area of the state is known for having crooked refs in their back pocket.

You are acting like a child throwing a temper tantrum. Use context clues dude! You couldn’t take the best players in all of Manatee County and assemble them on one team to come within 3 touchdowns of SJB. And Manatee is not getting Sarasota County talent where Venice has it locked down. Are you banking on some random kid from Tampa magically transferring? Manatee will be light years better last year than this year. They lose by 28 to SJB last year and about 42 this coming year

Lowndes dominated them in all aspects of the game. Georgia has much more resources for coaching staffs and the coaching is definitely better up there because of the resources. Lowndes dominated from beginning to end. Talking about yards is like saying a boxer who got knocked down 3 times had just as many punches landed but never knocked the other guy down. Lowndes doubled their points. It wasn’t even close. The game was never in doubt. Georgia overall is a little better than Florida at team football. Because of the money have to invest. We have better individual talent but they are deeper in teams

This is just ridiculous rambling. How many *plays* of Manatee's season did you watch? In a 13 game season, SJB only beat two (2) teams by 28 or more points. The notion that they would have traveled across the country and won by 28 over a team that basically played STA (who had Bishop Gorman on the ropes, up double-digits in the 2nd half) to a draw...is the silly kind of thing I guess we have to put up with in early March :D

You float back and forth between macro picture generalizations and a specific game you almost certainly did not watch. Classic nolebull

    • I do not. I've heard DLS sought a major out of state opponent for the early season. And I know the new staff at Lakeland is much more willing to play such games than Castle was. I've heard ESPN has been involved, though I heard that last year in regards to the Central game as well, and it never was televised. That the two played a classic game on ESPN 16 years ago might have helped pique interest.
    • Yeah Booker T. does have a new coach and replacing someone like Ice is going to be hard. Do you know who reached out to who as far as the matchup with De La Salle and Lakeland.
    • Hey everyone!  Doing things a little differently this year with the NFL Draft in coverage... this year we are LIVE STREAMING during all-three days of the NFL Draft with live coverage with analysis from a high school football perspective as well as Florida perspective with all three of Florida's NFL Teams. Here are the live stream links! NIGHT 1 - 1st Round   NIGHT 2 - 2nd & 3rd Rounds   DAY 3 - 4th, 5th, 6th & 7th Rounds
    • Lakeland will be heavily favored against both Lake Mary and BTW. This is mostly because both of those teams will be down from 2024. LM lost most everyone except for QB Grubbs, and doesn't figure to be able/willing to recruit/reload at quite the rate of most powers. BTW may be really, really bad. Casual fans may not know who their highly regarded head coach is, or where he is coaching now. But, let's just say his departure to an in-town competitor likely will bode poorly for their roster in 2025 (this is to say nothing of what the new staff may eventually be able to do.) The three toughest games prior to playoffs- by far and away- for Lakeland will be DLS, The First Academy and the major showdown in Orlando in August.
    • I see three scenarios here 1. 3-0 beat all three 2. 2-1 one lost to Booker T. Washington  3. 0-3 loose all three Are we getting the Lakeland that beat Miami Central 16-8 or the beat down from St. Thomas Aquinas 34-0
