Why ? Schedule a team that would actually give y’all a run for y’all money reach out to corona centinal ...St John Bosco.... mater dei.....Allen from out of Texas

Every team you just mentioned would likely not travel to vero so Vero would have to pay good money to take those games and if i remember correctly the county would have to approve it

Vero pats teams quite well, a lot of money in the booster club too for travel etc. One of the reasons Vero will sometimes have 8 home games is teams are usually well compensated.

Vero doesn't give out good money. The old Fort Pierce Central coach who is at Johns Creek in GA said Vero would only give them $5,000 to come down. That's table scraps.

Either he was sending him a message to not bother him or Vero lowballs people. It doesn't make sense because they convince so many teams to come play at their house.

The O Smith game was a 1 year deal. Vero will need another game next year

Context is needed here. Those are Florida teams. A couple thousand dollars to go from Broward to Vero or PB County to Vero is of course great money.

Vero is certainly not going to be able to host any of those powerhouse teams that were just mentioned unless they are willing to pay a six-figure amount. Now, could Vero travel to those teams? No doubt. Will they travel to those teams? Well, we'll see if history repeats itself.

The city of Vero Beach has tons o f money. VBHS and their QB club not quite as much.  The "Citrus Bowl is awesome and their field is best natural turf in the country. I have been down there a handful of of  times the past years. And only sell out is FPC when they are good, Sebastian brings nobody. Vero fans got pissed because Viera fans started to take up spaces they like on the North side of stands.

The Vero/Viera KO classic was top 5 atmospheres Viera has played in, in my 10 years associated with the Hawks.  Only Allen, TX, Gonzaga, DC, Plant, Cocoa (twice, 2015 and 17), and Lake City-Columbia (until fans started leaving) were better.

Oscar Smith is probably biggest trip the Fighting Indians do.

    • Dillard - I'm not sure that hiring a HS football coach is the same as bringing a student on board the team. I think that any school can hire any football coach that they want any time they want. They can even hire a football coach that is currently coaching at another school. Where did you find that it's illegal?
    • IMO the FHSAA should simply return to the previous rules that if a student transfers from one school district to another they would be allowed to in accordance with Florida law. However, that student could only transfer for academic reasons and would have to remain out of sports for the first full season of that particular sport. As I understand it, when the Florida Legislature passed the law that allowed students to transfer anywhere and at anytime they had academics in mind. It was a law that allowed students to transfer from a poor performing school academically to a good performing school academically and not for the explicit purpose of playing a game. I wonder if the Florida Legislature fully understands what happens when students are allowed to transfer explicitly for sports and how some of those transfers seriously disturb the natural flow of events with the sports team of those schools. To make matters worse they are now proposing that some high school students, that just happen to be good at playing a game, be paid for their participation. Truly amazing.
    • In the words of Chris Rainey...
    • Independent contractors....   What will go wrong with this?
    • I seriously can't remember how many times I had to do that very thing. Like Nolebull said in another discussion, the kids know kids from other schools and where the "hot hand" is. I never entertained discussions with kids or parents of kids from other schools. I know we lost some good ones because of it but I am ok with that.
