42-28 final, Pahokee. This was a SLOPPY win for Pahokee. I spoke with a coach earlier, and he said this was the worst week of practice for the team all season. He said the kids were acting as if this was a regular season game. He said that if they played like they’ve been practicing, then it would be a close game

I don't know if Pahokee is a little beat up because a challenging schedule but they definitely don't look like early to mid-season form of late.  Something seems off....

I agree. You never know which Pahokee team is gonna show up. I wasn't impressed at all watching them tonight. Didn't look like the same team that beat Glades Central.

That’s the truth...They’ve played a tough schedule, but they don’t have any major injuries. J. Washington (#5) has missed the last 2 games, but I think they just held him out tonight. It’s something mental going on with the kids (team), because they play in spurts. Defensively, they will shut you down 2 consecutive possessions and then relaxed on the third (like the game is over) and give up a big play/score...That was the Frostproof game in a nutshell.

One of the coaches said, that if we play like we’ve practiced all week (starting on Monday), we will either lose or it will be a close game.

I actually believe that. With the exception of that cocoa game, Pahokee's performance depends on their opponent. They looked great beating 8A Park Vista, PB gardens, Seminole Ridge. Even in the lost to Vero, they were competitive. But watching them play Williston and Frostproof puzzled me.

I'm just wondering which team is going to show up at Boot Hill in Madison?

Hopefully one that hasn’t been seen this season.

    • Dillard - I'm not sure that hiring a HS football coach is the same as bringing a student on board the team. I think that any school can hire any football coach that they want any time they want. They can even hire a football coach that is currently coaching at another school. Where did you find that it's illegal?
    • IMO the FHSAA should simply return to the previous rules that if a student transfers from one school district to another they would be allowed to in accordance with Florida law. However, that student could only transfer for academic reasons and would have to remain out of sports for the first full season of that particular sport. As I understand it, when the Florida Legislature passed the law that allowed students to transfer anywhere and at anytime they had academics in mind. It was a law that allowed students to transfer from a poor performing school academically to a good performing school academically and not for the explicit purpose of playing a game. I wonder if the Florida Legislature fully understands what happens when students are allowed to transfer explicitly for sports and how some of those transfers seriously disturb the natural flow of events with the sports team of those schools. To make matters worse they are now proposing that some high school students, that just happen to be good at playing a game, be paid for their participation. Truly amazing.
    • In the words of Chris Rainey...
    • Independent contractors....   What will go wrong with this?
    • I seriously can't remember how many times I had to do that very thing. Like Nolebull said in another discussion, the kids know kids from other schools and where the "hot hand" is. I never entertained discussions with kids or parents of kids from other schools. I know we lost some good ones because of it but I am ok with that.
