Football Recruits Excel at State Track Meet

South FL dominates the sprinting events, and many of the top placers are also highly recruited football players.  Auburn is going to be scary with Schwatrz and Shivers on the field at the same time.  I believe Schwartz's times are the fastest in the country this year.

Oh god... now he is going to talk about the last time that Columbia won the Track and Field state championship back in 2002 or he will point out that Columbia's success is built in the weight room and he will point to the state championships from  the mid 90s and the runner-up finish last year.

Just wait...

On a side note, I think Track and Field should have dual meets that determine the team state champions (teams should build depth and quality) as well as have a State Meet of Champions (Top 3 from each Class plus next 4 fastest times).

If Bruce Springsteen redid "Glory Days" he would have to add a verse about Columbia.

Below is Columbia's last individual state track and field champion.  His competition was sick that day.

Image result for 1800s track and field

Most of football players are pushed into weightlifting not track

We finished top 2 every year between 95-99 and won 3 titles

We also were pretty darn good at football too,  but I'm sure you already knew that

...so some of your best years ever in football were when you excelled in track?....hmmm

Maybe it is coincidence, but the decline in Miami Washington's football program is in parallel with their track team's dropoff.  They scored 1 point this year at the state track meet....amazing considering what a powerhouse they were in track for many years.
