Some Teams Who Are Struggling on Offense?

Is it just me, or did some of you also notice this weekend the low offensive output of some teams that traditionally put points on the board?  Sure, there were some really tough first week matchups, but I was still surprised by what I saw and/or heard.  Are any of these teams struggling on offense, or was the defense they faced simply that good?

American Heritage-managed only 16 versus Carol City

Armwood-scored 12 vs TBT; lowest offensive output since state title game in 2014

Atlantic-scored 14 versus vs PB Central; reports that offense was unimpressive

Chaminade-Madonna-only scored TD against Deerfield due to muffed punt at 5 yard-line

Dr Phillips-held to one first down in first half versus Lee County(GA)

Glades Central-6 points versus University School

Immokalee-8 points versus Golden Gate was lowest output since 2015

Jones-3 points against Wekiva was lowest ouput since 2014

Mainland-couldn't outgun Deland

Palm Beach Central-shut out against Atlantic

St Augustine-only managed 14 points versus Baker County

Wakulla-3 points versus Madison County was lowest output since 2011 state title game

Wekiva-reports that offense is struggling

Jones is supposed to be way down this year based on sources

Wakulla is looking bad as well despite me having high expectations for this team

Deland is good this year based on what I'm hearing from others

Armwood i knew before season wouldnt be as strong on offense, they gonna rely on defense this year

Wekiva i heard before the season had question marks on offense

As for others I'm not sure

They are not way down. Not quite as good as last year, but not far from it. Last year was over hyped; this year, Jones is under the radar. It is hard to score more than two touchdowns against Wekiva.

hold up Columbia like this but not mine when I said the exact same thing 2 posts above.  Come on columbiafan like my post

    • Dillard - I'm not sure that hiring a HS football coach is the same as bringing a student on board the team. I think that any school can hire any football coach that they want any time they want. They can even hire a football coach that is currently coaching at another school. Where did you find that it's illegal?
    • IMO the FHSAA should simply return to the previous rules that if a student transfers from one school district to another they would be allowed to in accordance with Florida law. However, that student could only transfer for academic reasons and would have to remain out of sports for the first full season of that particular sport. As I understand it, when the Florida Legislature passed the law that allowed students to transfer anywhere and at anytime they had academics in mind. It was a law that allowed students to transfer from a poor performing school academically to a good performing school academically and not for the explicit purpose of playing a game. I wonder if the Florida Legislature fully understands what happens when students are allowed to transfer explicitly for sports and how some of those transfers seriously disturb the natural flow of events with the sports team of those schools. To make matters worse they are now proposing that some high school students, that just happen to be good at playing a game, be paid for their participation. Truly amazing.
    • In the words of Chris Rainey...
    • Independent contractors....   What will go wrong with this?
    • I seriously can't remember how many times I had to do that very thing. Like Nolebull said in another discussion, the kids know kids from other schools and where the "hot hand" is. I never entertained discussions with kids or parents of kids from other schools. I know we lost some good ones because of it but I am ok with that.
