Teams with Least Success in 3rd Round of the Playoffs

Since 1975, 14 teams have lost 6 or more times in the third round of the playoffs.  These are the 6 teams that have had the least success, ie winning percentage under 35%.  Even with this distinction, it's a substantial accomplishment to have reached the third round so many times.

Fort Myers 0-7

Fort Pierce Central 0-6

Winter Park 1-7

Columbia 3-6

Lake Gibson 3-6

Santa Fe 3-6 

 

Others with 6 losses

Jesuit 4-6

Merritt Island 5-7

Ely 5-6

Palm Bay 5-6

Glades Day 11-12

Glades Central 10-9

Madison County 9-8

Lakeland 11-6

This Thanksgiving, we are thankful for YOU and the stats and history you provide to this forum! We also wanted to take a moment and completely agree with you on a statement you made.  I understand the concept of not awarding participating trophies, but we also think the teams that are consistently hitting a wall in the third round deserve significant respect just for getting to that point. In the world we live of constant transfers, social media it's hard to maintain that success and make these types of deep runs into the playoffs.

So true. It is not easy in most classifications to get to the third round and beyond. Any team, except for a few "super programs," that can consistently get to the third round, has an awful lot to be proud of!
