Bamarod got a reaction from KeemD321 in So the two best teams in the entire state are playing each other in round 2...
Viera is looking forward to this game. Last year's ending didn't sit well with the fan-base or the players. This game will be settled on the field not the press-box.

Bamarod reacted to 181pl in STA steamrolls 7a
STA always benefits from a very weak district and super weak Region. S. Fla. sucks in 7A, outside of STA and Dwyer. The result is that STA comes through the season and Regional Playoffs so rested that nobody has a realistic chance. Plant, Lakeland, and Viera are battling in Region 2. Columbia and the Jax schools are murdering each other in Region 1. Region 3 was by far the toughest from top to bottom with Venice, B River, Plant City, Bloomingdale, Tech, Palmetto, and P Park. Also, Riverdale was 10-0, but wasn't quite up to snuff and not playoff tested, but still a good team on par with anyone in Region 4 except STA and Dwyer.
But in the end, your analysis is correct. The other regions will beat the crap out of each other to, in the end, be the worn out sacrificial lamb for a rested (and super recruited up) STA squad.

Bamarod reacted to DarterBlue2 in FHSAA Attendance Nightmare
In 5A, I am hoping one of Jones or Rockledge from East Central Florida can upset the apple cart in the South and advance. Jones would bring a good crowd, as the Citrus Bowl (Camping World) is about 400 meters north of the school.

Legion37 said: "Lakeland 10-0 and the only close game was at Apopka 37-20"
No so fast my friend, Lakeland was only up on Manatee only 29-14 with a couple of minutes left in the game, and Castle decided rather than just eat the clock and go home to keep the starters in and go for it and scored on a long play to make the final 36-14 score. You can call the Apopka game your closest from purely a score standpoint, but lets at least be real about Lakeland . They did not blow everyone else out................because that's simply not the case.. Castle left the starters in and instead of just running out the clock with just a couple of minutes left in the game. Manatee had begun to substitute freely on defense because the game basically was over, but Castle went for 1st down on a 4th down play in Manatee territory with 3 minutes left in the game and then scored the last TD on a Bowman 43 yard run with just about 2 minutes left in the game, to close out the game then 36-14. Game was much closer then the final score indicated.

Great offensive game by both teams. Best DB on both teams was out injured, Cortez Reid for Hawks. Cocoa worst Defense they have had in 20 years. Soph. QB Norton starting to click for Viera.

I don’t think they are bad though either. Dematha went to Imhotep and beat them by much more than SJR did from Jersey. (team that was basically even with AHP)

Bamarod reacted to OldSchoolLion in Historic Win for Tampa Bay Tech
Over the past 10 seasons, Armwood has lost only 6 regular season games on the field. 4 of those losses came at the hands of Plant. Hillsborough and American Heritage Delray each beat Armwood in 2012. Last night, Tampa Bay Tech became only the third Hillsborough County team to beat Armwood since 2008 in the regular season or the playoffs.
Below are the results of recent games TBT has played against Armwood....all losses, and most of them not even close. So, last night's win over Armwood was a huge occasion for the Titans.
2017 35-12
2016 38-14
2015 25-20
2012 30-0
2011 40-11
2010 38-6
2009 9-6
2008 45-6
2007 26-0
2004 57-19

Bamarod reacted to OldSchoolLion in Thoughts about IMG
Valid points. IMG was playing some kids on defense in the Columbia game and it is pretty obvious they were trying to get them reps. I watched tapes and confirmed numbers. The IMG guys getting owned on the edge were not their big names Nolan Smith and Trevon Riggins. I saw one play where Smith blew by his Columbia blocker.
Apparently IMG shut down Pine-Richland's offense and held them to 75 yards total offense. I read that Smith terrorized the offense. One of the "out of shape" guys we saw on IMGS's dline against Columbia was 6'4" 320-pound Deyavie Hammond, an offenive lineman from Lakeland. They also played a kid named Hank Greathouse who is a senior and is not even rated. There was yet another no-name fellow who got reps on the Dline, too They also gave reps to a linebacker who is not one of their top 3.
From a common sense perspective, it would not have made sense to play someone like Smith the whole half in a low-profile scrimmage and risk injury. If I was a coach in a program that charges $50-75k per year tuition like IMG, I would make it a priority to get some of the lower profile players(especially seniors) some reps so that mom/dad would be pleased...recognizing that such opportunities might be limited during the regular season. IMG has a roster of well over 100 players. Think there is some pressure on the coaches to find playing time?

Bamarod reacted to Proseteye in Thoughts about IMG
Once again, the IMG pre season and the regular season are like night and day. I see this every year with IMG. My take on it is that it's difficult to get an assorted group of super stars working as a team until it really matters. They know that recruiters will not be watching nor attending pre season games (glorified scrimmages) for the most part. From the 1st game of the season it's a whole different story. IMG players have one goal and their only goal and that is to be recruited into a D-1 program. The vast majority of Columbia players, just like all regular high schools, will not be recruited and will never play football again after their HS days. This I believe is what makes the difference with the IMG program and why the team can be complacent in pre season and lights out in the regular season.

IMG Academy extends streak to 38 with win over defending Pennsylvania state champion
Stingy Ascenders defense holds Pine-Richland to 75 yards of total offense.
So much for IMG's supposedly porous defense and lack of speed. Different team in the regular season as opposed to the scrimmage season.

Bamarod reacted to gatorman-uf in 2018 Columbia Football
I single Columbia out on a thread about Columbia if another team was beating this loudly I would do tbe same. I single you out because you are the North Florida version of the STA Fans... giving no credit to your opponents or that your opponents have accomplished anything.
Using Gainesville as a team that overlooks CHS is laughable, they play them in almost every sport every year. CHS is not a middle of nowhere team for a school like GHS.
I dont hate you, I just want you to stop being such a homer and get outside of your CHS bubble. Rivalries are fun, CHS is a very good to almost great program that is very consistent. It is not state level elite. Many of us have been providing you proof on why CHS has failed to live up to expectations. You ignore. We remind you that games like IMG are preseason games and while you hype wins over Apopka, Raines, West Orange, those games still didnt lead to seasons beyond expectations.
I point out that you always have excuses when CHS loses (umps/refs, injuries, etc). That never seems true of the otherside though when CHS wins. In other words, you are homer. If there was another homer as big as you on this board, we would give them equal grief.
As you look forward to this season, it seems the QB situation has been resolved instead of the rotation that I saw last year. I still don't think QB is big enough for Power 5 offers and I think people consistently underestimate the skill and genetic level required for that level, but je still has another year. Do I think CHS will go undefeated? Probably not. But are they at least a regional finalist this year? Absolutely, but that is minimum expectation for a school like CHS.
Are they state champion level good, dont know, but I not claiming them state champions because of a glorified scrimmage.

17 is about right. I can see a 31-14 type game.
Vero doesn't have that much big game experience and they have to travel.
