Any 1 of you Guys Attending the STA @ DILLARD SHOWDOWN THUR NIGHT?

Didn't you say that Columbia doesn't have that much money like other schools? Isn't that the reason you gave for not going OOS cause money was a little tight?

But on the flip side you have to remember that Columbia prefers to play games on the road.  They don't want to play big games at Home because they get over confident.   Between that concept and this pre-season opinions playing both sides of the fence I officially am changing columbiahigh2016's name to "Flipper" .

We don't, and that's why we don't have long travels like other schools

So how are you going to do a 2 year trip with a South Florida team? Y'all most likely aren't going to get any money at all in a 2 year home & home deal. Only way you most likely get money in a 2 year deal is if both games are road games for Columbia.

Well I personally like road games especially long ones because means a) I get out of school early and B) I get a few hours to relax and focus on game

As for why we don't do long travels it is money, otherwise we would play oos games with more then just a few south Georgia teams every now and then

Hey to be the best got to beat the best so for us to go to states their no team I would want to face more then Lakeland, if we good enough to beat you all in your house then I know we deserve the shot at the big dog aka STA

Yeah. Just giving you a hard time.  :) I'm reserving judgement on Lakeland until after week 3 (Carol City). On paper, they are loaded....but....these are high school kids.....you have to see how they respond.

On topic.....hopefully there will be a feed somewhere of the Dillard/STA game.

Was 35-10 last year. A fairly tight game until the 4th quarter when Lakeland outscored them 20-6. They look to be senior heavy in the skill positions, young in the trenches. Looking at their numbers, likely have quite a few players going both ways.

    • The biggest problem at public schools right now is 2 things. One, they are hiring radicals who are more interested in indoctrinating kids with extreme ideologies rather teaching them basic fundamental skills to become well rounded adults. And 2, they are not getting rid of the worst students who take from the kids who want to learn. If kids skip school they should be expelled. Drugs. Expelled. Fights. Expelled. They can stay home and do E-learning. But these public schools keep, and sometimes cover up crimes and poor behavior. Get rid of the kids who don’t want to learn. You gotta tighten the ship
    • Better to have some kids thrive, then none. Every kid who goes to a private school and thrives is a net benefit to society. Plus your scenario assumes that the private schools don’t already have great teachers taking up all spots available
    • I’m glad those recruiting rules don’t apply to Broward & Dade county…….
    • Or the private schools will use their combination of private money and public money (i.e., vouchers) to hire away the best teachers, leaving the rest at the public schools to teach those who don't have the resources -- even with the vouchers -- to send their kids to private schools.  Of course, if this happens, there might be a few folks who will brag that it all worked out the way it was planned.
    • Yeah, if you're in a in a program that has accountability and structure the season never really ends. January to August is when you win championships. I just hope the fans understand and respect that. The coaches should be paid accordingly for the time, effort and sacrifice they put in for the school and football program. Oh, and that 100 degree heat aint no joke for the players, trainers and coaches.
