...imagine below.  Could it happen?  How would attendance be affected?

  • 6 teams from Jacksonville in title games
  • 7 teams from Dade/Broward in title games
  • Only 1 team from Central FL in a title game...no teams from Tampa or Orlando
  • 5 Miami vs Jacksonville matchups
  • First time ever with 5 teams from one county in a title game(Miami-Dade)

8A Columbus vs Mandarin

7A St Thomas Aquinas vs Lakeland

6A Miami Central vs Lee

5A Northwestern vs Raines

4A Carol City vs Bolles

3A Chaminade-Madonna vs Trinity Christian

2A Champagnat vs University Christian

1A Madison County vs Panhandle Team

8A Columbus vs Mandarin  (fourth most probability)

7A St Thomas Aquinas vs Lakeland  (5th most probability)

6A Miami Central vs Lee  (7th most probability)

5A Northwestern vs Raines  (6th most probability)

4A Carol City vs Bolles  (least probability)

3A Chaminade-Madonna vs Trinity Christian  (most probability)

2A Champagnat vs University Christian  (third most probability)

1A Madison County vs Panhandle Team. (second most probability)

Lee best shot to make finals was probably 2016

That team had the defense that is needed in playoffs, last 2 years not so much

If I were a betting man these are order of probability I could see those scenarios happening

There are a number of other scenarios that could still result in Tampa and Orlando-area teams being shut out of the title games, ie Columbia rather Lee in 6A, Godby/Vanguard rather than Raines in 5A, Cocoa rather Bolles in 4A.

Since 2000, there has always been at least one team from the Tampa or Orlando areas in the playoffs.  With the emergence of Mandarin and major obstacles standing in the way of Armwood and Plant, the odds of it happening may be increasing.

It would be interesting considering how well Central Florida has been on the rise lately

With the realignment of 6A north, in a manner of speaking, a title game slot for a Tampa team out of Region 2 was taken away (because Region 2 is sooo weak) and given to Region 1, which is full of north FL teams.

Tampa already had a contender in 7A Region 2(Plant), so Armwood moving in there is not necessarily a "gain" for the Tampa area .

Disagree somewhat

8A-

Plant v. Columbus

7A

Armwood/Lakeland v. STA/Venice

6A

6A North is Weak AF. and is wide open. IF Mainland is their usual self, it should be Mainland  V. Miami Central

yes region 2 is very weak and is far weaker then it was last few years if that's even possible

Region 1 Isn't that bad and is better than it was for most of the previous cycle

And no plant isn't winning the 8a north and unless Armwood somehow gets better from this past year they will lose to Lakeland by same margin they lose to these 6a Miami teams in finals every year

8A North is down to Dr. P, Apopka, Mandarin, Plant, and Sar. Riverview. I'll take Plant's chances among that group.

You are discounting a lot of good teams.  West Orange, Osceola, Winter Park, Bartram Trail and Seminole come to mind.  Plant has a good a shot as all but there are some quality teams you are leaving out.
