State Championships in Daytona

Recommended Posts

Went there years ago.  No problem until this year.  I have a close friend who is an Army Vet and served our country in Viet Nam.  He is wheelchair bound.  There were no accommodation's for him to see the games.  None!  That issue needs to be addressed for next year.

Please make sure the FHSAA is aware of this . . . . now, while they have plenty of time to get ready for next year's games.  Contact George Tomyn, FHSAA Executive Director (per the FHSAA website, his email address is:  EmailExecutiveDirector@fhsaa.org).

Also, your friend may want to make an appointment with an attorney who specializes in ADA matters.  There's no excuse for a public venue failing to provide accommodations for those with disabilities -- especially those who served our country.

There wasn't a problem last time he came over. We all took the elevator up and down to indoor seating and an outdoor observation deck. Who stopped you guys ?

Elevator was reserved for media only at the title games.

Sorry, I didn't attend, but my 33yrs at the Daytona Beach News-Journal would have over come that minor restriction. When needed my timid message board associates shouldn't have taken no for an answer....  #loudandproudArmyVet
