Hillsborough has 250 wins from 1920-1957

444 wins from 1958-2020

Thats 694 and they played football since 1907. So they are for sure apart of the 700 club

So another team in the 700 win club (maxpreps needs to do better research since they only had Manatee with 700 wins before the season #lazy)

ColumbiaFan has failed to mention all of the controversial recruiting and subsequent wins by Columbia in the early days.  Columbia was a losing program until one day players from nearby Suwannee started transferring in.  While everyone else was riding donkeys, these transfer players would pull up to school on their fancy thoroughbreds and designer boots courtesy of the booster club.

Sorry to burst anyone's bubble here, but St Thomas Aquinas has won about 530 games just in the past 50 years.  THAT's impressive.  If they had been playing football for 100 years at that level, who knows how many wins they would have.

STA has been playing for 75 years. according to their website, they have 554 wins from 1946-2016. Add the 45 wins they have from 2017-Now, and they have 599. They will be going for win 600 vs Venice.

my guess is OSL wasn't counting the years STA played under its previous name

funny you mention Suwannee considering I don't remember Columbia ever getting busted for cheating on our state finals teams lol

also here's a excerpt from the Lake City Reporter a few days ago that might be considered interesting

"Some players sat out, while coaches from other schools were calling the rest to pry them away to their programs. And when the Tigers finally did start, they did so with just nine practices while trying to rebuild a roster that graduated 20 seniors."

“It’s been a rough year for everybody, but we didn’t know if we were going to play football or start workouts. Kids were thinking about leaving. Coaches who had their programs running were trying to call my kids saying, ‘We’re practicing and you aren’t.’ And right now, many of those teams are sitting at home and we’re still rolling, so it just makes it feel so much better this year to be in the Elite 8.”

for some context clues both Columbia county schools started their season later than normal so Fort White wouldn't have been starting early, the closest school who started August 24th was Suwannee who has a history of recruiting

I just randomly picked 50 years

okay

and to answer your question STA may very well have 800+ wins if they had been around 100 years but we don't know for sure, the purpose behind this thread is simply to actually have a list available of teams who passed 600 (and I guess also add teams to the 700 win mark)

I'm sure over time more teams will join the list and there are plenty of programs who probably would already be on there if they had been around longer

..and that's fine, ColumbiaFan.  It's an interesting stat, but it really doesn't say that much because the data is not normalized, ie schools have been playing vastly different numbers of years.  If one desires to use such data to judge program effectiveness, I think it would be more relevant to look at FHSAA wins.

    • My new team, South Lake  H. C. Brad Lord took a very heavy underclassmen squad into Foundation Academy,  which personally as a H.C, im 0-2, beat them convincingly 49-14. We only had 36 offensive plays. Q. B. Trey Kelly Rising Sophomore went 7-9, 1 dropped and 1 blocked, 212 yds and 2 Td's, The running backs rushed for 202yds 3 TD's  in only 27 carries. Where my old school Poinciana lost to Horizon 20-30. Poinciana only had 33 players on the official roster ( all time low, I had over 60). Cameron  Brown Had a great game throwing for 2 TD's and ! rushing TD, (great effort) IMHO Horizon , while being a great program, was down from last year, Also include that 32 didnt play in the first half. (he drove the ball right down the field in his first possession in the 3rd 1/4 and they scored ( not to take away from the efforts of their other running backs, they will be a force to be reckoned with. Horizon is not as good as they were last year (up front only). I am sure the coaches will make corrections and become way better in the fall. At the end of the day, PHS, still needs discipline on defense (too many stupid penalties) and a direction to work for.  Yes, I am being super critical, after spending 10 years trying to fix that program, what they (administration) did hurts. Not the new HC. fault, In fact I try to help him any way I can. PHS looks like a team led by a first year head coach who hasnt found his way yet. I truly hope they do. the HC is a great guy, just young and needs a lot of help understanding the ins and outs of HS football.    Im not hating,  (for the PHS head coach). I just want to see this different direction we are looking for!
    • You may be right Observer but it didn't look that way to me.  And I am not a Verot fan.  FM Green Wave only but support all the Lee County athletes despite the school they attend
    • Yep, this is a pretty surprising result. I assume the Explorers tried like BV and SR tried, although I assume "the narrative" will be that Columbus was the only team that didn't try
    • He is doing well Nulli and his index will return this year
    • For any in the know, is there any chance that the index gets an update this year?  I hope he and his family are doing well.  I hope the FHSF posters and your families are doing okay also.
