Who owns the most wins in state history?

Only a select few programs in state history have ever hit past the 600 win mark but only three has as of today hit the 700 win mark (one hit the number this season) however one school is only one win away from joining the 700 win club

1. Who are all the programs to have currently hit 600 wins?

Lakeland

Bradenton Manatee

Columbia

Fort Myers

Hillsborough

Miami High

2. Who are the other 3 programs currently over 700 wins?

Lakeland

Bradenton Manatee

Hillsborough

Bonus question:

Who is the team who only needs one more victory to join the 700 win club?

Columbia

any idea how many wins for Vero Beach?

I don't have the numbers in front of me, I have a list of teams who ik are over the 600 threshold but the state doesn't do as good of a job keeping track of program win totals so I would suggest finding a historian or someone with the Vero Beach's records to get that answer but I'm not aware of them being over 600 wins but I'm guessing they have at least 500

Billy Livings was the coach at a Vero for 26 years and win a state title in 1981. He coached there from 1980-2005. He won 7 Regional titles and 15 district titles. His record was 211-86.

That is impressive all by itself. But can you believe he also coached in Alabama for 12 years before that going 104-22-4 and winning a state title up there!

his career record of 315-108-4 and two titles is impressive! Plus how many coaches won 100 games in one state, 200 in another and titles in each!

Vero Beach has 504 wins from 1955-2020. They started playing football in 1927. I’ll have to check and see what I have for those years tomorrow. Almost positive they have over 600. And that doesn’t include 7 wins forfeited.

So probably over 600 but likely not 700

Date of original post + your signature appears to answer the bonus question:  Columbia :D

I was kinda hoping that people would have responded to this question faster before columbia actually won the 700th game but yes the answer to the bonus question is columbia

Also I made a slight error as there are actually 2 other teams in the 700 win club (I blame maxpreps for their poorly researched graphic from a few months ago which originally tipped me off to the chase of 700 lol)

Gatorman told me that Gainesville High has way more wins than Columbia.

@nolebull813 has the records of both teams so he can tell us exactly how many wins gainesville has

I believe they are above 600 but until he confirms it I won't be adding them to the list

There is several other North FL teams in the 600 win club

One hit the total a few seasons ago in their opening game and here's the hint

They are a rival of a school on the list currently and the team they beat to hit 600 wins is also in the 600 win club themselves and despite not having a good team in a few years, they were once the state record holder for wins under a legendary coach with ties to another team on the list who also coached at the team who is the rival who hit the 600 win total and that coach has a stadium named after him in north Florida

(Try saying that 5 times fast) lol

There is also a very consistent program in the Southwest FL area who is in the top 5 statewide in wins and like Columbia they don't have a lot of championship success (I don't think they have won a state title at all) but they are still respected as one of the most consistent winners in Florida regardless

Fort Myers

I do have Gainesville‘s complete history back to 1912. Same with Pensacola. They are the first team to ever play HSFB in Florida back in 1905.

I would have to check teams like that and see how much they got

Can you look over it and find out what their win total at?

I'm guessing both are over 600 but I doubt they over 700

I cant speak on the schools up north, but down south I'll say Miami High, Coral Gables, or Miami Booker T. Washington.

Coral Gables started in the 50s.  They used to be called Ponce de Leon and played since 1927 but Ponce wasn’t a good team.  They probably aren’t even close to the top of the list

    • What this means is we will soon see one of two scenarios play out in the coming years: 1) A subset of students will eventually not be able to attend a "good" school because there is simply no space for them due to there being a scarcity of "good" schools 2) Assuming compulsory attendance remains a thing, we will see longtime elite private high schools nosedive in performance. The schools can not perform magic: unmotivated, unprepared often defiant students will NOT be good students no matter what the school does/doesn't do. And oftentimes these sorts of students do have parents who will do the absolute bare minimum needed to get the kid into a private school through the new rules. Anyone who genuinely believes that the schools with higher test scores automatically do a better job of teaching the kids than schools with lower scores is an imbecile.
    • Here’s a scenario that will cook your noodle. There’s an 11th grader at a D rated public school. Lives in a bad neighborhood with a single mom and a bunch of siblings. Dirt poor, and struggle just to eat and keep the lights on. He can’t get a part time job to help out because he has to watch his little siblings while his mom works.    The school he plays for has poor attendance at the football games, and is always bad. He is a super star for them and tons of new bandwagon fans start to attend the games because they are good and he is the reason. School is making tons of new money.    Season is over. Back to reality for him. School year is over. Summer hits. Some “runner” on behalf of the rich local private school “offers” his mom, him, and all his siblings a way out of poverty. New place to live, food on the table, and an opportunity to get a quality education and maximize exposure for all the top colleges to see. A once in a lifetime opportunity to get his family out of poverty. What say you? Does he say no and continue to barely survive, or does he take the deal?
    • To make it short and sweet. I am against breaking the rules. If there is a rule that seems outdated or unfair then it should be amended/changed/repealed with majority rule
    • I am a huge proponent of innocent until proven guilty, and due process with credible evidence. I support a credible investigation, and not some witch hunt by disgruntled folks both near and far from the program. Let’s hope they can get to the bottom of this quickly
    • Thanks for admitting that you do not know why they transferred or the several others that mysteriously transferred to that school (not a known powerhouse).  Thanks for also agreeing you specifically have to ask all the kids that left for seemingly inexplicable reasons why.  That happened as a matter of fact which raises suspicion thus the launch of an investigation by the FHSAA who hopefully will ask YOUR question as well as many more to get to the bottom of it.  Any fair-minded person should readily support this investigation.  If you don't support and admitted you don't know the facts, you are basically guilty of what some are accusing you of.  I would hope you would like to know the TRUTH as opposed to simply attacking the messengers.
