  3. This is the best I've ceen MC's dline play all year by the way. Looked like a different team. Even when they beat STA their D front was getting pushed and ran on for 5 yards up the gut. They really played hard. Was very impressed. CC had a chance to win it and blew it. Great game. Thought the refs were a little bit on Carol City's side also, but it seemed that every 1st and 30 was converted by both sides lol.

  4. You do if you want balanced districts. Which is what you said you wanted.

  5. Gainesville is farther away sorry stop whining. Leon would be in 6a. Maybe they go to the panhandle or Jax districts. This is how it goes in real life.

  6. No I don't think that is true. There are a bunch of coaches, ads, principals and county administrators that know this is true. It will take smart people really setting their individual interest aside for the good of the sport.

  7. No I want to separate privates because they can't have rules and this cancer has spread to publics. I am not ignoring anything. Publics recruit all the time. Recruiting does not even equate to winning. It does lead to a disconnect to community, to empty stadiums, to teams dropping sub varsity teams. So no I don't want to ignore the publics recruiting. I want to address all of the issues.

  9. Football folks tend to be control freaks. They want to "get it right", and they're convinced that they themselves are always right. It's why you see every other play in the college game stopped for review, even though 9 times out of 10 the conclusion to be drawn is "I can see it either way". And it's why everyone always bitches about how to run the postseason. Fact is, in most cases, there is no way to subjectively get it 100% correct, 100% of the time. Strength of schedule in high school football is much harder and much closer to impossible to evaluate then most care to admit.

  10. Is it really an upset if Venice wins? No team is invincible and history has proven that time and time again. Sooner or later, even the mightiest will fall.

    Mandarin

I have watched Mandarin for several years and have seen most games live and in person this year. With so many new pieces and coming off a bad year last year no one knew what to expect. Talent has never been a question, but it took them almost two entire seasons to put it all together. Having a brutal stretch of games (Godby, Lee, Deland, Raines, Apopka, Sandalwood) didn't do them any favors but they survived and are currently light years better now than they were when they went down to Apopka almost two months ago. Their QB is the real deal and will likely end up as one of the best two or three in the country coming out next year, barring anything unforeseen. There is definitely a reason why Saban offered him so early. Comparing schedules and like opponents only goes so far because it is all about match ups. But, for what it is worth, the Mandarin team that will show up Friday is the same one that showed up to WP last Friday and completely dominated, in a game that was never competitive from the opening kick off. That's the same WP team that played Wekiva to a virtual stalemate and dominated the rest of their schedule. I feel the best thing they did all year was rest some guys during the Fletcher game. It cost them a seed in a game that Fletcher HAD to have, but it seems to have paid off. There was some let up toward the end of the year and it seemed to kind of reset things. Wekiva looks solid, but not unbeatable, as with most of 8A. It is debatable whether this will be the best defense Mandarin has faced this year because the Raines defense takes a backseat to no one and Mandarin handled them quite well. Mandarin is also an excellent road team (4-0 in Volusia/Orange counties) so that is a non-factor. And yes, as an earlier post listed, they are two OT's and one play from being 11-1. The Lee game is an outlier because their QB and top two backs did not play due to injury, and even then, it was 13-13 in the 4th quarter, before it got away from them with a few bad plays. Mandarin was in this same position in 2015. This current team is far better and would beat that group by 2-3+ touchdowns. Just my $.02. It should be fun.

  12. I have followed this site since it's inception. I am a former coach and AD. I finally had to join and give my two cents. This is high school football. 99% of all people actually involved understand that someone else might be better than them. With ANY system, there are going to be "bubble teams" and exceptions. Without exception, the teams that truly deserve to be in playoffs will get in. Occasionally, there will be teams that get in that others deem "do not deserve it" based on there teams resumes. Good for them! I do know this: THIS IS NOT SOMETHING THAT BELONGS ON A POLITICAL BALLOT.

  13. Couldn't be more wrong? You wanna put money on the idea that NO publics in FL recruit? Because I'm sure anyone on here can back up the fact that there are publics who recruit as well You think every private is like STA I don't see Aucilla Christian snatching 20 d1 prospects from surrounding publics
