Bishop is rated #5 in the nation and SJB is rated #8. BG was playing their second game and seemed a little better coached, so I can see the win over STA. SJB, a very organized and well coached team, also came to ball. Tough losses for our Florida teams to 2 excellent power teams. IMHO Chaminade and STA both will have to prove they deserve their ranking though. They may have the benefit of last season hangover. They play each other 10/11, which means one will have at least a 2 loss season. They also play American Heritage Plantation during their season, so that will be a tell also.
Not sure I would over think rankings this early in the season since it's really just something for everyone to think about, play with.

Terrapin got a reaction from DarterBlue2 in ROLL CALL!!!!!
Yea I would like to see any team from the panhandle be competitive, but several factors make it nearly impossible for a team to be competitive every year for a chance at state.
The best one can hope for is Niceville or one of the Escambia county teams making a deep run. Like Pine Forest did a few seasons ago. But winning is a tall order.
Baker did clinch a title though. And small schools are the only ones who may have a consistent shot at winning. But big schools have a tall order at winning a title.
I still enjoy the spirit of football as you mention. Go to any Niceville vs Crestview game, and their stands are packed to the gills.

I’m looking forward to the chaminade vs st Thomas game. It’s about time these two national powerhouses meet (WHEN THEY’RE BOTH ELITE) this matchup is long over due. And will most def be there lords willing.
as for my panthers , do I see us winning a title this year ? Honestly right now , NO. So taking that expectation out. I’m very interested in seeing what do I second year head coach has under his belt. He made a few adjustments to the coaching staff, we have a lot of talent that came in from lil league and from JV. They looked very good vs a very good monarch team in a game that felt like a playoff game ; but again that was also a spring game.
I see us having a good regular season winning between 7-8 games maybe 9-10 if we can stay healthy and make strides during the season.
for Dillard if we can make it to the second round or dare I say to the regional finals that would be a successful year for my panthers and a major step in the right direction.
in this new district we’re in we have no sta , no central , northwestern, no BTW, no gibbons , no chaminade. BUT we have norland and heritage so we will see how things go. 1 thing I DO know is dem Dillard boys gone be there, the band is gonna b in the stands gonna b lit in the stands , and the fans are gonna fill up home or away. LETS GOOOOO DILLARD!!

Terrapin reacted to Joshua Wilson in *Lack Of Full 2024 Schedules On Maxpreps*
I am working on compiling schedules as we speak. I am using multiple resources (everything from Team Twitter accounts to even Hudl -- believe it or not I am finding full schedules there). I have some help in getting them compiled in to a master spreadsheet. I hope to get these posted quickly as possible.

to be the head Coach at Coffee High School in Douglas. Good luck Coach Coe and even though Jessee is annoying, you are a good man and I wish you the best of luck.

Terrapin reacted to Perspective in Metro/Suburban Plan voted on. PASSED
The plot thickens.
Based on a cursory review of the FHSAA Board of Directors, Lee County has two representatives on the Board, while Seminole County has none. The two Lee County members are Mr. Thomas Kenna (AD at Cape Coral H.S.) and Ms. Chris Patricca (a Lee County School Board member). I'm just speculating, but perhaps the folks in Lee County didn't want to spend their limited post-season time driving southeast to get their butts kicked by South Florida teams on a regular basis and quietly figured out a way to slide into the Suburban group at the expense of Seminole.
Or maybe I've just read too many John Grisham books over the years.

Feel free to disagree, but I think the FHSAA needs to get their act together and cut back from 8 classes to no more than 6 or 5. There is no reason that schools whom struggle to field football teams year-in and year-out with marginally smaller enrollment pools should have to compete with larger schools who have upwards of 3X their enrollment. (I.e, 1A schools like Chiefland, Baker, or Union County having to compete with Madison County.) Or, similarly, even what happened to Hallandale in 5A this year. Looking at all of their transfers, they just can’t compete with the Centrals or even their local rivals due to minuscule enrollment numbers interfering with their talent pool.
I’m not saying that cutting classifications will have massive implications in enrollment numbers, but having more opponents in each classification in an expanded playoff format would increase the likelihood that big private schools or even larger metro publics would have more competition and more even matchups. This would eliminate games like Madison County vs Baker (a complete mismatch,) and replace them with something like Madison County vs Cocoa, or a team like Viera or Rockledge. In my opinion, a much more fair and even matchup for both schools that may even prove to be a competitive ballgame with more fan involvement. Would make HSFB more fun overall and make matchups more worthwhile to see. Just my 2 cents.

I see READING is NOT fundamental…COMPREHENSION is….this is from HS Football Live’s twitter…NOT MY FEELINGS/VIEWS! I just shared the information from the tweet.
Hawthorne has a 1A enrollment, but when you get 10+ transfers (compare the last 2 years rosters) it is what it is. Madison also has 1A enrollment, but they also can pull from their charter school (who’s #s don’t count for them).

Other than the smallest and largest classifications all won by privates (Central Rockets operate like a private). They should have their own league, but maybe I am preaching to the choir.

I don't get why there is a paywall for the high school championships.

Terrapin got a reaction from SportsNut25 in Destin High hires a football coach! - EG Green.
Destin High has fielded a football team, and E.G. Green will be the first head coach of the program. There were rumblings years ago that they might get a high school... and now they have a football team.
He was on the 1991 FWB team with Danny Wuerffel. The state championship game is on YouTube.
Green has a TD at 2:26 in this blast from the past.
- Played under Bowden in the 90s for FSU.
- Drafted by the Colts in the 1998 NFL Draft.
For classification, I don't know the enrollment figure, but Destin is smaller than FWB. I would assume 5A at the highest, but we will see closer to when they get added on.

Destin will almost certainly be 1A. I've been on the campus and really don't believe there's any way to seat more than 600 students - more likely 300, if that.
