It should to a extent when looking at potential talent going into season but is about on level with spring and fall camp

Padded camps are just a way to get some good practice in.  You can see what you have talentwise, but its nothing like the season.  You don't have game prep, your not spending a week getting ready to play an opponent.  Many kids will get way more reps in camps than they will get in the fall.  Its just a good measuring stick to see where you are, and where you need to get to.

Yeah and generally teams that do well in camps translate to fall, especially the players who to well seem to go into season and make plays like they did in camps

To my knowledge several State Championship teams have done very few scrimmages and 7 on 7s this year.  When was the last time you heard anything about TCA, Miami Central, STA and Flanagan in spring ball or 7 on 7s?

 

  Do you suggest those State Championship programs are making a mistake, or don't know what they are doing?

They do just not as a team, you forget they have travel teams broward as I bielive was brought up before

These padded full scrimmage camps are a great thing for the players, coaches and the team as a whole. No evaluation of a player is greater than going live against another opponent. As far as evaluating a teams future success, not so much. Many teams will plug in back ups and players at different positions against another teams starters. All this is done as it would be done in an intra squad practice.

Padded camps tell you how physical your players can be and are great for evaluating the physically of your team. However scores can be misleading. the success of individual plays and who executed in those plays is a greater barometer of future success
