Not always, people transfer to those because they have won a lot, people go to img because they literly recruit from all over the country and if they were legal they would be allowed to join a class, the fact they can't win a championship also should mean they should never be number 1 in any poll

IMG opted out of the FHSAA system playoffs because they wanted to play a highly competitive national teams versus locally which would do very little for them.  IMG is considered an Independent team.  I believe there are 80 - 100 Independent teams in FL.  That said, should we not include ANY Independent teams?

How many of those independents go out and recruit players from all over the country like a college team?

You make it sound as if they are dirty and have bad relationship with the FHSAA.  Are you aware that one of the reasons IMG recruits nationwide-  is due to an agreement with the FHSAA?

I have no problem with you not including them in your poll but understand that  IMG has always operated this way - for all sports.  They are also perfectly fine with not being playoff eligible for ANY sports.  They prefer to build the athlete and have their athletes compete with national competition rather than play locally.

I'm fine with you doing whatever you want with your poll just understand that IMG has ALWAYS recruited nationally for all of their sports .  No one is forcing these FL teams to play IMG either.  Don't you kind of find it interesting that IMG and the FL teams are agreeing to play each other?

Ik, they are a academy which makes it legal, but I don't feel it's fair to rank them equally with teams who build up, esppecially the public schools like central who had to build themselves up and to answer your question is because those Florida teams want to beat them to prove they not scared to take img on which I respect that, I like seeing Florida teams not scared to play them, I hope AHP pulls the win out on them to show all the recruiting in the world don't guarantee that you will walk over everyone and how many other Florida teams playing them this year?

And broward the fact that they play over haft the schedule out of state makes them ineligible for the playoffs so why should they be eligible for any polls if they can't even enter the playoffs?

FHSAA Independents are FHSAA Independents  If we leave one out we leave them all out - not that there would be any there but  I just feel the rule should apply to all rather than "well they do this and this " but are still classified the same by the FHSAA.

And I don't like img because they show what's wrong with sports now. People would rather join a super team then to build a team from the bottom to the top, what happened to worst to first and making school history, not just high school, you see this in college and in nba and mlb, would be like that in nfl had it not been for the salary cap

Aren't the majority of the independents small schools who wanted to leave to district format to control their schedule better?

I was not aware AHP was playing them in 2016.

To my knowledge Carol City is playing them on 8/20, Boyd Anderson is playing them on 9/23, Oxbridge Academy is playing them on 10/13, and Chaminade Madonna is playing them on 11/5.

I would agree with you if your team was being forced to play IMG.  It sounds more it is "people" (or people playing sports) you don't like rather than sports.

Don't you miss getting to see a team work hard to get a chance to play and win a title, but so many times in sports these days you end up getting a super team vs a team that built from scratch and they get demolished by the team who essentially bought their way to the top, ain't that way people couldn't stand the Yankees, they would buy the best players and demolish other teams to get countless championships?

There is nothing wrong with what IMG does.  They recruit nationally so they aren't really diluting the talent pool in Florida.  They are independent so they aren't knocking a public school out of the playoffs.  They only play teams that want to play them.  If a kid has the money or the talent they can give him the coaching and specialized training to get farther than he would otherwise.  I understand not wanting to rank them but when they are included in rankings it shows what a great job the schools ranked around them are doing considering IMG is a national team.

Ok I see the point but tell me that no one would make them number 1 team in nation?

IMG does work hard - they just have a goal of a National Title versus a State Title.  They are not ruining buying their way to any  FHSAA State Championships and Nationally speaking - there is no governing body.  It essentially comes down to the individuals running the national poll.

Do you know how many elite basketball programs operate like IMG nationwide?

Like sharkbait pointed out, IMG is a great measuring stick to see how where teams are nationally.  To be honest with you there were probably 5-10 teams in state that compete with or beat IMG on a given night in FL in my opinion. - No Columbia was not one of them.

I would if I thought they were but I don't know that they are the best in Fl.  Look at these national powerhouse schools in other states, parents move their kids from other states to those schools from all over just to play somewhere that they can get national acclaim.  Heck it happens around our state with parents moving into another district just so their son can be on a team with more talent or better coaching.  I'm sure there are kids at Columbia whose parents moved them there to be part of that program and the parent just have a long commute to work.  By the way this doesn't have anything to do with a school recruiting players just parents doing whats best for their kid.
