My son got his helmet yesterday. One week later the pads start popping. 3 weeks is the spring game. Then it’s summer workouts in 100 degree heat.

There is no off-season!

Yeah, if you're in a in a program that has accountability and structure the season never really ends. January to August is when you win championships. I just hope the fans understand and respect that. The coaches should be paid accordingly for the time, effort and sacrifice they put in for the school and football program. Oh, and that 100 degree heat aint no joke for the players, trainers and coaches.

It could just be me, but one trend I've noticed with this year's schedules is that more "good/very good/elite" teams are scheduling more games against other similar teams.  Although there are other possible explanations, my theory is that teams are leaning into the perception that strength of schedule is weighted more heavily in MaxPreps ratings than it was in the FHSAA Power Rankings.  I cannot confirm this as a fact, as I am still waiting for my MaxPreps decoder ring to arrive in the mail.  But it should be interesting to see how scheduling philosophies and the use of MaxPreps affects the selection and seeding of playoff teams.  In any event, only 4 more months until kickoff...

I think the more likely explanation is that the powerhouses who gets loads of transfers are now struggling mightily to fill out their schedules without scheduling similar programs. They sort of have to play each other...

There is most def a lot more goliath vs Goliath matchups this upcoming year. Which you love to see.

perfect example. STA @ CHAMINADE I thought I would never see that matchup. Especially during a year where both teams are nationally elite. So that’s a game I can’t miss in person.

then you got American heritage vs Miami central

st Thomas vs American heritage

St Thomas vs Columbus

It’s going to be an action packed 2024 season.

    • Full schedule. It's nothing like florida high school football.  If anyone has confirmed spring south florida matchups with the dates & locations please post them here. Dillard will not be having a spring game this year and would love to attend a great local spring matchup.
    • To further make my case that I’m the biggest nutcase Florida high school football fan, here is my Spring Tour 2026. Wednesday May 13 - South Lake (Groveland), Viera (Melbourne) at St Cloud, 6pm Thursday May 14 - THE BATTLE IN THE SWAMP: Atlantic (Delray Beach), Coconut Creek, Mainland (Daytona Beach), McArthur (Hollywood) at Palm Beach Gardens High School, 6:30pm Friday May 15 - BATTLE AT BRYANT (Lakeland): Buchholz, Port Charlotte, Lakeland at Bryant Stadium 6pm Saturday May 16 - BATTLE AT BRYANT: Clearwater Central Catholic, Evans, Jesuit (Tampa) 6pm Tuesday. May 19 - South Dade at Piper 7pm Wednesday May 20 - BATTLE AT THE LAKES: Fort Lauderdale, South Miami, Hialeah-Miami Lakes Thursday May 21 - Flanagan, Miami Springs, Coral Springs at Coral Springs  Friday May 22 - Braden River, Charlotte, Sarasota at Sarasota High 7pm Thursday May 28 - Dade Christian at Pine Crest 6pm * Haven’t confirmed place and time for BATTLE AT THE LAKES.  I’ve contacted all 3 schools but haven’t received a response.  That was over a week ago.  Ridiculous!
    • Think about that.   A high school state association only exists because enough men and women agree to volunteer their time, money and resources to lead athletic teams. And with an abundance of teams paying forced fees to participate in athletic competition, you are able to salary countless of individuals twice and 3 times the amount the coaches make teaching.    all while you pay to coach because you aren’t being compensated for it.    Then when you use your resources and reputation to facilitate an agreement between a company and a player you mentor and coach, the company wants to give you a bonus for this facilitation, the association that only exists and profits because of your work says no they can’t do that.    That’s some clown world shit.
    • Too funny that an unofficial volunteer, which is what coaches in Florida essentially are gets slammed for accepting money for facilitating a deal to make a student athlete’s life so much better. What if the coaches connection was the only way for this to happen?    I swear, if you try and profit from the system that makes everyone above you rich, they shut that shit down quick!!!! Players are legally allowed to, but state associations were ardently opposed to it because they didn’t want anyone else profiting from the system.    now coaches who probably pay to coach when you breakdown the money they earn with the hours they put in, want some compensation for their resources, and the state sends some 6 figure salary pencil neck to tell him he can’t do it F these bureaucrats
