Snap shot of Dade & Broward recruiting…..strike that, “Transfers”

Tarpon Springs gets yet another transfer in this weekend, Pinellas Park star RB Emarian Triplett.  So Tarpon now has PPHS' star WR and RB.  I think the Tarpon coach is promising all of these players D1 offers if they play for him and he's taking advantage of all the scouts that are visiting the CAI players that transferred in as a selling point.  I know that's how he got one of our starters to go over there.  He's recruiting and not even hiding it at this point.  I normally pull for TSHS as they had fallen on hard times for a couple of decades but this is not how I wanted them to succeed.  Now I want them to epically fail.  They might have over a dozen transfers in so far and are picking off players from every school in the area.  It makes you wonder if there's something shady going on too?

All I can say is welcome to the dark side of high school football. I know nothing about pinella county , but as a south Florida native this is a year in & year out thing.

a team that was mid or terrible for most of their existence, get that 1 coach and all of a sudden every kid and their cousin wants to transfer there. And then when that coach leave so does those same transfers & the program takes a fatal tumble, from near the top all the way to rock bottom. that some programs have never recovered from.

prime example: Flanagan high school look up what happen and how they still haven’t recovered till this day.

You mean Devin Bush bringing all the studs in, winning and then bouncing turning Flanagan into a barren wasteland.

Check Deerfield Beach for a more up to date example

That’s basically what coach glen did at Deerfield , while he was there Deerfield was always top 5 in broward for recruits year & year out. And because of it Deerfield always had average to above average seasons.

since he was let go , now look at them.

Flanagan - coach bush was there a few seasons and within those few seasons all types of transfers came through them halls that would’ve never been there if bush wasn’t there. And the football program benefited heavy.

when he jumped shipped Flanagan could barely field a team the next few years and they’re still bottom of the barrel.

We lost to that team in the state finals in 2015 26-7, although score is deceiving as the game was even (7-7) right till halftime when we lost our starting MLB, Dwight Pinellas and had to replace him with a 9th grader.  They immediately targeted him as the weak link in our defense and found success doing it.  Coach Bush rode the coattails of his son and 2 other players for a gig at the University of Michigan the following year abandoning Flanagan as he probably planned all along.

    • When the schedule was released I predicted this would a loss for Pahokee because they only returned 2 starters on offense and 4 on defense, I thought the lack of playing time/experience would be a factor. I think Newman has a CLEAR ADVANTAGE on the OL & DL (they don’t play both ways) size/strength wise, so that’s how I think they win. Skill players/QB are about even to me. Pahokee is banged up on the OL, and the 1 retuning starter from last year will be out.    The Pahokee defense is giving up 8 points per game and held Palm Beach Central to 14, so I think they can keep it close if the offense isn’t turning the ball over or having to many 3 and outs. This should be a good test to see where the team is at and hopefully they can come out healthy.

    • I wish I could the early history of each team. I have all the results for Osceola from 1948-2024, and St Cloud I got all the scores from 1946-2024.  I need the scores before those years. I got some sprinkled in but not enough
    • You're sticking to the trend as of late and it certainly may end up that way.  My thing is not to disparage the other team nor pound our chest by beating an inferior team by 40+ as we play them because of the aforementioned tradition.  My take is if they get points it will be late vs subs as it is pretty clear they won't be able to run it and last week we chased the South Dade QB all over the place but he had wheels.  Passing wise they will have to dink and dunk as Logan King (QB) will not be able to escape the pressure. Our staff will reward subs with playing time if it does get out of hand early.
