Because I’m a nutcase I just purchased tickets to all 7 games.  For the last 15 plus years my group of high school football buddies have had at least one of us attend the state finals.  Individuals lived in Ft Myers,Tampa, Leesburg, Lakeland , Clearwater, Daytona Beach, Lake Mary and Apopka.  At the peak my group had 10 people.  Orlando were the glory years.  For a few years the FHSAA provided our group with passes to every game(those were the days).

@MarkECannon, there's still a shot I may make it down for Thursday through Saturday. At least in Dade, I don't incur hotel costs as I can stay by my sister in North Miami. For me, this year it's more a matter of time. But some of the games do look like they should be competitive and since its that national high school site that is streaming them live, the quality will likely be poor.

I’ll b there from tonight thru Saturday. The only state games I missed in forever were the ones in Tally.

Darter, I did get the opportunity to watch the Madison County vs Hawthorne championship game on the NFHS network and the quality of the video, audio, sports reporters, etc.. was fantastic.  It is a different venue but my guess it will be high quality.

Obviously, planning to attend our game at 12:30 Friday but doubt I can stay down there for a long weekend like I had hope to catch some of the others.  Hoping the NFHS broadcast of games from this venue are as high quality as was the one for the Rural championship from the Villages location.

I will watch the CCC vs Chaminade game this evening and see what that looks like. If good, then my decision is to stay put. If poor, I may make Thursday evening through Saturday. I may try and catch the early Thursday game, too, but since I would be leaving that morning, not sure if I will make it in time.

My favorite 2 posts from the finals:

1.  nolebull’s rant about the privates vs public’s issue.  He doesn’t want to ever hear that argument again.  Forever ever ever, ever ever? (from Outcast’s Ms. Jackson).

2  Jambun stated he was right again and don’t ever doubt him again!

I love the finality of these 2 statements.  I move we vote to make these 2 proclamations as permanent items to the Huddle platform!

A very influential and important person once said to me "You know Jambun82, when someone is as right as you always are, it is not a habit anymore, it is a WAY OF LIFE!"

I watched the finals from my in-laws house while we are in East TN for the holidays. I'd like to fly back home next year for the finals and then fly back up. I had hoped to go to some playoff games here and in Virginia while we were here, but it's been colder than crap. After 6 years in southern Florida, I can't handle the cold anymore.

    • Can't count on FHSAA to do what's right or makes sense so we have to look elsewhere.  I'm still learning about SSAA and I still have questions concerning their bylaws. It's a growing league and I think it will soon surpass FHSAA in membership.
    • Agree. Everything could be avoided if they did what i said. Consolidate classes down to 4, and force teams who have a set number of transfers participate in an open division. Come up with a number. 5 transfers per year. Whatever number seems right. That way the all star transfer factories can duke it out for one title, and the other 4 playoff brackets will at least be a respectable.    If they create the open division with 7-8 classes next year, every bracket is gonna be beyond embarrassing and make Florida the mockery of the country. You will have glorified 2nd round losers being called state champions
    • I hope it grows too. To about 500 members! Some of the SSAA teams were or would be playoff teams in FHSAA.  You are correct, they have zero chance of winning a championship in FHSAA.  Some are figured that out. About 400 or so need to come to the same conclusion.
    • Most Manatee die hards, consider the 1993 title game against Southridge, a nightmare game where anything that could go wrong did in fact do that. I want to say Southridge had 2 kickoff returns for TDs, 1 Punt return for a TD, at least 1 (possibly 2 INTs returned for a TD), I believe there was also a hail Mary at half for a TD. The 1984 19-14 playoff loss to Lakeland, probably burns in die hards guts than the 1993 contest. Manatee was a heavy favorite going into that game, but 2 turnovers inside the Lakeland 10 proved ultimately to be Manatees undoing and denied Manatee any chance at back to back titles
    • I think they are small schools.    Marathon - about 700 (grades 6-12) Coral Shores - under 800 Key West - about 1,300
