Pinkos had a decent week 1!  Keeping up with him for week 2 and agree with most .  I see a few Week 2 SFL games that I might lean a little different......

CLASS 8A

Belen Jesuit 11 over (4A) Gulliver Prep -  I am leaning Belen closer to 18 here.
Coral Gables 18 over (4A) Edison -  Could be more like 24+
Coral Park 21 over Hialeah Gardens -  I think the underdog HG can hang within 14 here
Miami Beach 14 over Varela - I have Miami Beach blowing this one open by 21+
North Miami Beach 21 over Coral Reef - Could be closer to NMB by  28+
Plantation 6 over (7A) Ely - Lots of respect to a improved Plantation team, leaning Ely at Home in a close one though.

CLASS 7A

Doral Academy 35 over South Miami- 35 is fair but I think this could be a absolute 45pt massacre...
Mater Academy 21 over Reagan - Mater tightens up here and rolls by 28+
Nova 1 over (8A) South Plantation - South Plantation takes this one by 6+
Olympic Heights 12 over (8A) Spanish River -  I smell a Olympic Heights blowout by 20+
West Broward 28 over (Ind.) Coral Glades - Could get real ugly WB by 35+
William T. Dwyer 3 over (8A) Atlantic (Delray Beach) - Atlantic gets back on track here and wins by double digits.

CLASS 6A

Boynton Beach 7 over Boyd Anderson -Boynton by 14+ here
Northwestern 3 over (8A) Columbus -  I don't see Columbus hanging within 10 of a top 5 team in FL.  NW by 10+

CLASS 5A

American Heritage (Plantation) 3 over Liberty NV - Appreciate any team coming to SFL but I see AHP by 10+.
Cardinal Gibbons 35 over (3A) American Heritage (Delray Beach) - This number is a little high to me.  Gibbons by 24.
Coconut Creek 13 over (8A) Monarch - I think Monarch can keep this closer to 6  in a tight one
Hallandale 20 over (7A) Hollywood Hills - Hallandale by 28+

CLASS 4A

Glades Central 1 over (7A) Oakleaf - Expect Glades Central to rebound well as a 8+ road winner
North Broward Prep 8 over (3A) Benjamin - Wrong team favored here.  I like Benjamin to pull off the road W.

CLASS 3A

Calvary Christian (Fort Lauderdale) 35 over (4A) Immaculata-LaSalle - I think LaSalle keeps this one closer to 24.
Oxbridge Academy 22 over (8A) Flanagan - This will be over by  the early 3rd.  The Ox in a blowout by31+
St. Andrew’s 10 over St. John Paul II Academy - St. Andrews impresses again by 17.
Westminster Christian 4 over (4A) Keys Gate Charter - Keys Gate wins a close one!

CLASS 2A

Community School of Naples 6 over Glades Day - I like Glades Day to get the W at Home here.

INDEPENDENT

Boca Raton Christian 1 over (4A) Somerset Academy  - Leaning Somerset Academy here by 7+
International School of Broward 10 over Pembroke Pines Charter - Saw film on PPC - not good.  ISB in a blowout 21+.

Well picks are in...The only consensus pick is North Broward Prep.  The Benjamin CB Kaiir Elam and  NBP WR Kevin Austin should be a great match up tonight.  I am actually  leaning Benjamin getting the Away upset tonight as I believe they  are a little under the radar in 3A.

Going to go low-key tonight....  Heading up to Coconut Creek to check out the Benjamin @ North Broward Prep game.  I want to check out this Benjamin team.

Other solid options in Broward were:

Chaminade-Madonna @ Miramar

Western @ Dillard

Plantation @ Ely

Monarch @ Coconut Creek

AHD @ Cardinal Gibbons

Archbishop McCarthy @ University School

Boynton Beach @ Boyd Anderson

Stoneman Douglas @ South Broward

Liberty @ American Heritage

Kind of hard to go wrong anywhere tonight!

If i had those choices i probably would pick Liberty vs AHP just because im curious how Liberty will do against a solid sfl team

But that's just me lol

In all of those games I got chaminade at Miramar a flip but will pick the lions

Dillard or western

thought boynton was gonna be home but got the tigers over the cobras would be funny tho if BA won

creek over monarch

plantation over ely since they have their old coach back and this is ely first year with Davis add that with me hearing from reliable sources that ely is small and should have lost the Atlantic game then turning around and getting blowed out by Stranahan I'll go with the colonels but ely can win this if their as talented as we originally thought

I got university school rolling the mavericks to go 2-0

AHD use to be so solid I really don't know what to think of their lost to Belen is Belen on the uprise or Ahd is still rebuilding either way at gibbons got to roll with the chiefs at home can the stallions still one here ??? That would be interesting if they do.

douglas at south broward gonna roll with the eagles

liberty at Ahp patriots at home u will be a fool to go against them Ahp over liberty until proven other wise

AHD is much improved.  Belen is solid but they can be a nightmare for teams to prepare for.  I believe they are now primarily running shotgun with random variations of wing - t mixed in.  AHD has a few Gibbons kids that transferred over the spring/summer. Could be interesting...

The word I'm hearing from sources including SPCjessica2004 (in here posts here) is AHD may return to greatness in 2018..

I think their 2018 team will be very solid, but so far their 2017 campaign has been a dud. My belief is that they're very young, but when you look at the roster you can see this isn't a team designed to challenge the 3A powers right now, but more in 2018/2019.

    • I seriously can't remember how many times I had to do that very thing. Like Nolebull said in another discussion, the kids know kids from other schools and where the "hot hand" is. I never entertained discussions with kids or parents of kids from other schools. I know we lost some good ones because of it but I am ok with that.
    • In a single word, "no." In a lot more words, see the following: (From 2023-24 FHSAA Handbook) 36.2 GENERAL DEFINITIONS 36.2.1 Athletic Recruiting. “Athletic recruiting” is any effort by a school employee, athletic department staff member or representative of a school’s athletic interests to pressure, urge or entice a student to attend that school for the purpose of participating in interscholastic athletics.   and this . . . 36.2.2 Improper Contact. “Improper contact” is contact, either directly or indirectly, whether in person or through written or electronic communication, by a school employee, athletic department staff member, representative of the school’s athletic interests or third parties, such as an independent person, business or organization, with a student or any member of the student’s family, in an effort to pressure, urge or entice the student to attend a different school for the purpose of participating in interscholastic athletics.  See Policy 37.    In fact, if the kid contacts the coach at another school, the coach is not supposed to communicate with the kid other than to refer the kid to the person at the school responsible for admissions.    Best I can tell, there is no exception for being able to reach out to a kid who plays a sport that is not offered by the school that the kid currently attends.  Perhaps there should be . . . but then you'd really be opening Pandora's Box.
    • So you are not allowed to talk to a kid who is not an active football player currently attending a school that doesn’t have a football team?
    • 1.  Ask around and get the kid's phone number. 2.  Call the kid.  3.  If that doesn't work, DM the kid.  4.  Once communications are established, try to convince the kid to come to your school.  There may be other ways, but I think this would be the easiest way to recruit a kid .
