There is no National Championship Game; there is a Power 5 Invitational that excludes Group of 5 teams. There is no legitimate national championship trophy. NCAA recognizes UCF National Championship.

As a UCF Alum, I'm all about them claiming a stake in the National Championship because they caught lightning in a bottle. The problem with scheduling is that Power 5 teams won't schedule UCF. That Stanford game was scheduled years ago and they just played it. Can you see a team at the higher end of the SEC or ACC scheduling UCF? Not a chance. It's a tough spot for UCF because when they lose a game, they were over-rated and had no reason to be there but then they win and it's "That Pac-12 team was soft. Pitt is at the bottom of the ACC." Or, from the other side of it - beating UCF doesn't do much for a Power 5 school other than a win over a ranked opponent. But, say a team like Oklahoma or Florida schedules them and UCF wins? Then they get legitimized and it hurts the Power 5 system in general. I get the fact that people don't like that they proclaimed themselves National Champions. But, people disrespect the dominance they've shown over the last 3 years and try to sweep it under the rug. As football fans, which we are, that's just being boneheaded.

That would require UCF actually being presented a offer to join a power 5 conference None these power 5 conferences seem interested in expansion (probably at the request of Mark Emmett, the biggest fraud in colligate sports)

The whole let's see who claims who as the top team and use that to define us as national champs is the exact same thing that happens with box office movies. Every commercial for each of the really big movies find a media outlet to dub their film the movie of the year. Not to mention only one movie ultimately wins the award from The Academy.

And the NCAA that year (as well as year before) completely devalued the conference championship in order to make it about money (which is the only thing they care about) They decided 2 years in a row to allow a team who didn't even win their conference to make playoffs That's pathetic

Since Franks went down for the season on Saturday how do you think the Gators will do the rest of the season? Frank's replacement Trask looked pretty good and actually pulled out the game for Florida. Do you think Trask will be the starting QB here on in and are any of the other QB's on the roster as good? Myself, I never thought that Franks was that good of a QB and felt that the Gators could have done a lot better with someone else.

RE: UCF needing to schedule harder It all falls on the UCF AD who is .... well, let's just say he's different than his peers. UF made a very generous offer for a series, but UCF's AD declined because it was a 2-for-1 deal. (UCF's counter-proposals of a home-and-home or a home-home-neutral caused UF to essentially laugh at UCF for the proposal.) UF turned around and made a 2-for-1 deal with USF, which caused UCF's AD to slam USF.

Viera lost big to Cocoa. Cocoa looked like a junior varsity team against Hoover Hoover is not even a great team. That means Viera stinks and doesn’t matter if the 6 best players on Rockledge were out they should still roll

Thanks for answering. I didn’t see the game or hear what happened. Sounds like Chaminade wasn’t a lock to win even if they didn’t get hosed on a spot. They can redeem themself this week.

Apparently, the video showed Chaminade-Madonna making a critical conversion on 4th down to keep their drive alive to potentially score points and the officials ruled that they didn't have enough. It is controversial and that is why I didn't want to knee jerk on moving them down many spots because of that and being a 1-point game.

USF for instance?

A USF fan that wants to change the NCAA record book because UCF was given championship recognition. Go figure...

And no, we are talking about it because the rule has always been there and used multiples of times before UCF used it and everyone got upset that UCF was the latest one to use it. And I seem to remember a recent National Champion doing worse than a one score game and losing against an 8-win, middle of the pack ACC team Pittsburgh. Lol

I grew up across the street from USF campus and was a fan of FSU my whole life. I was over there when USF didn’t have a team and watch the transformation from Division 1-AA to 1A independent to Conference USA to The Big East to the AAC. It was such a great experience watching it from birth. I couldn’t help but be a huge fan.

Rather than fits; it would be an old fashioned ass kicking with the establishment teams trying to catch their breath. Just what is a "nolebull"? Please don't say it's a fan of the FSU Noles and USF Bulls. If so, I now realize why you're so pissed about UCF.

Whether UCF is top billing material or not, their QB Dillon Gabriel is one hell of player. He shredded the Stanford defense with both his passing and ground play action. And this guy is only a Freshman. Holy Cow. Just feel that UCF and Gabriel would give UF, Miami, or FSU fits if they played them.

The two-headed QB combo (Trask and Emery Jones) could actually end up causing more headaches for opposing defenses than Franks by himself. Or maybe that's just wishful thinking on my part. Either way, hat's off to Trask for what he was able to accomplish in Lexington this past Saturday night.

I think the Gators are fortunate they have Mullen as their Head Coach; the man is an excellent QB coach. I was never a big Franks fan, but I never want to see a kid seriously injured. I believe Trask will be successful because Mullen will limit the risks he is willing to take. In my opinion, other than Trask, their QB options are weak, not so much on talent, but on experience..

I think the call was incorrect. If the punt was blocked, it should not have been roughing the kicker. Are you sure the officials didn't call a personal foul on the 2nd rusher for hitting a defenseless player?

I remember when Merritt Island spray painted Cocoa's baseball facilties black before a football game. It was funny because all Cocoa did was add orange and white stripining and an orange paw. Would've made more sense if the M.I. players would've painted it maize

UCF was without McKenzie Milton for the LSU game, but the team still performed well, just not well enough to win the game.

The most hilarious part about you wasting your time to make up these points, none of them matter to the actual rules. UCF went undefeated and was ranked #1 by an NCAA Major Selector which makes them a National Champ for 2017.

I know it’s before most everyone’s time, but this was a huge rivalry in the late 70’s through the 80’s. Both teams were competing for state championships back then, with Merritt Island winning back to back in 78, 79. and Vero winning it in 81...

It is funny that Lakeland people are saying that they don't recruit when the entire "High School Free Agency" bill that was introduced by representatives of Polk County was because the FHSAA punished Lakeland for a couple of kids transferring for athletic reasons. And the fact that our state legislature hates public schools.
