Oxbridge Academy at Flanagan

Game had a couple heavy downpours roll through and had a lightning delay which led to a very close, smash-mouth style, sloppy game. Both teams had a few turnovers.   Oxbridge struck long early and went fairly conservative after that.  The Oxbridge Defense was good enough to contain Flanagan in the red zone.  Oxbridge OL and DL stood out and their Defense overall was pretty stout.  Flanagan looked about like I expected - a "B" version of last years team.

Oxbridge also fumbled the ball like three times at some pretty crucial times, although weather could have played a little roll in it.

If the lightning had waited like maybe 45 seconds at the end there it possibly could have been 13-6. Oxbridge possibly got into the endzone but refs couldn't agree if it was a TD or not and as they were getting ready to confer, lightning alarm sounded and they just called it at 7-6.

Overall, a good game and Richardson is going to be a solid QB I'd say.

keep the updates coming.

How does Oxbridge look?

I was talking to a few Oxbridge Academy fans/dads and they said outside of losing Travis Homer at RB - Oxbridge Academy is stronger than last year, particularly at the OL and DL.  From what I saw from the sidelines they looked like a very well oiled 3A machine in August. Stood out more Defensively to me than Offensively ( then again they were playing at Flanagan)

Maybe it was me but late in the game, the Oxbridge players looked a little more lively and conditioned compared to Flanagan.  On the last drive of the game for the Thunderwolves, it really showed.

Another thing I did notice is Oxbridge has a pretty small roster and I believe a couple of kids were playing both ways.

Yes - OL/DL is incredibly talented this season.

Conditioning wise, I don't know what those other teams do but those Oxbridge boys go through some tough conditioning, in part because the play up-tempo and no-huddle on offense so they have to be conditioned very well to play in that.

MaxPreps shows 45 on the team compared to 2015's MP roster (that included JV players) that listed roughly 60.

Heard the D looked real good, but jury still out on the Offense though that young qb seems to be a keeper.  perhaps they'll adjust and show some weapons vs CC next week.

D looked great.  Offense is a ? but to be fair the Flanagan Defense looked pretty good as well.  As far as Carol City at this point, the way Carol City is looking offensively, Oxbridge may be able to seal the deal with 17 pts on the board.  Could be huge contrast to last years CC/Oxbridge game that was a 2nd half shootout that Buckshot took over in.
