Breaking news: Columbia to play Jax. Trinity Christian

Dang it's a beating.

It really has been. Columbia had a good drive at the beginning of the game, but fumbled. Since then, TCA has pretty much imposed their will. Columbia is running a no huddle and generally going 3 and out, giving their defense very little rest. They may need to slow it down a bit.

TCA looked ready to play today. Offense still a few games away. Defense a little closer. Still a few weeks away but played as a team today. How is OTC looking this year.

Kind of hard to judge, Fan. We defeated 6A Leesburg,in the Spring Game and lost to 7A Buchholz in the KO Classic 26-20. Our 1st game of the season was washed out and our 2nd game of the season was also washed out. The team is looking 100% better than last season's disaster. I would say that we can now compete with any team in 3A, and would give a game to both CCC and TCA. I really was looking forward to the Jesuit game to see how well we would do against that 5A power. We need to play every game like it is a championship one. Take nothing for granted.

Below is my assessment of Buchholz that I posted in an earlier message:

"I don't think that Columbia or Vanguard will have too much trouble with Buchholz. They are really not that good or Trinity is really that good. I don't know which. The Celtics had too many personal fouls which cost them big time. There were times when we moved right down the field on the ground and scored easily. Then, there were other times where we just couldn't handle success, running plays that just weren't working. For some reason our top RB was not used until the 4th quarter and then he rushed for big yardage.

The Buchholz QB will not take them to the playoffs. He's OK but nothing to write home about. They do have a couple of good RB's that moved the ball. Torrey Richardson jr and Khauree Sullivan did most of the groundwork. Richardson is big and fast. Bryan Jaszczak is a pretty good WR".

I will add. If you stop Richardson, which we did most of the time, and corral Jaszczak, you will defeat Buchholz. Richardson is a pretty good sized RB who has a lot of speed. However, I think that our D handled him 90% of the time. Covering Jaszczak is a handful as he is a very experienced WR. We marginally did our job with him although could have done better.

I just don't feel that they have the QB this season that they had last season. He is adequate but not good enough to mange their offense to compete with top teams.
