In 2003, this coach's team defeated a Palm Beach County opponent and made him only the fourth coach ever in Florida to win 300 games.

Who is the coach and what team did he coach?

George Smith

Sta

Idk but that my best guess

Or maybe Corky Rogers for Bolles

Were all wins IN Florida? Billy Livings Veros old head coach had over 200 wins in state, and over 300 wins including his coaching time in AL. He retired in 2006 so it’d been close to around then.

It is Billy Livings of Vero Beach.  In October of 2003, he earned his 300th career coaching victory when Vero Beach beat Wellington 20-0 at the field named in his honor. Livings joins Carl Madison (315-140), Gene Cox (313-99-4) and Corky Rogers (304-63-1) as the only Florida coaches with at least 300 wins at that time.

Too bad we don't have anyone on the forum from Vero who could have helped with this one.  Good job Trelle!

Not to put you on the spot young man, but......some extra credit for you Mr Trelle.:)

Who is the only player(s) from Vero to ever have his jersey retired?

I believe it was Kenny Holmes, but I could also see it being possibly Gary Parrish, he’s still a living legend around Vero.

And yes sir I was playing back then I think I remember that game but it’s been a little bit lol. The game against Wellington I remember is the year before when the Palm Beach Post predicted us to finish last and we wound up going undefeated and locked up the district against Wellington because my former line coach (and great man) Coach Ahrens agrees to shave his head if we won the game and we wound up shaving it in the end zone at Wellington

Kenny Holmes-yes!

Gary Parris-yes!

You are missing one.  Hint...he played Tight End.

Kenny Holmes (defensive end, 1992)

Dominant edge rusher recorded 22 sacks during his senior year; two-time first-team All-Big East selection at the University of Miami; two-time captain for the Hurricanes; recorded 207 tackles and 29 sacks at Miami; drafted by the Tennessee Oilers in the first round in 1997; registered 38.5 sacks during his seven-year NFL career; current defensive line coach at Florida International

Gary Parris (tight end, 1968)

Two-time all-state second-team selection and a three-time All-Suncoast East first-team selection at Vero Beach; earned 15 letters in college (four in basketball, baseball and track and three in football); named the team’s top underclassman in 1966 and '67; played in Florida High School All-Star Game; signed with Florida State and finished career with 82 catches for 1,125 yards and five touchdowns; drafted by the San Diego Chargers in the 15th round in 1973; caught 45 passes and five touchdowns in 91 NFL games; named Indian River County’s Athlete of the Century in 2004

Tight End threw me off for a second because he didn’t play it in the pros for my favorite team (Go Pats!!! Ps Favorite team since the early 90s when they stunk, was actually irritated I was a Bledsoe guy and wasn’t happy they benched him healthy for Brady lol)

Bryan Stork should be the last one, forgot but remembered they did it a few years ago. Maybe during a homecoming game I think had an on field celebration he brought Vero one of the awards the NFL give high schools if their players win a SuperBowl.

My dad coached for Sebastian and Vero I grew up going to the games, and him telling me stories from the past so I’d like to think I have somewhat of a good knowledge of the team. Livings wanted him to be one of his assistants again when I played but he was done with the FL heat lol

It is Bryan Stork!  Holmes, Parris and Stork were the 3 Vero players to have their jerseys retired.  Now you can go stump your friends.

Bryan Stork (offensive line/tight end, 2009)

Had 43 pancake blocks during his senior year where he primarily played tight end; signed with Florida State; started at both guard spots for the Seminoles before settling in as a center as a junior; won the Rimington Award as the nation’s top center as a senior; was a consensus All-American and first-team All-ACC pick as a senior when he helped lead Florida State to the BCS National Championship; drafted by the New England Patriots in the fourth round in 2014; started 11 regular season games as a rookie as well as Super Bowl XLIX; retired from NFL in 2017; currently a graduate assistant at Southern Miss

    • When you right you right fam. At the end of the day. Anybody in dade, broward or palm beach know bout Dillard and know we don’t duck no team home or away. We down to line up any day.    but none of that puts points on the score board or guarantee victory. You can be ready and confident all you want, but if your team doesn’t have the personnel to match a national power house who gets in loads of transfers year and year out, 9/10 that score is going to be fairly lopsided.    and as much as I bleed Dillard day and night, and as much as it pains me to say. Dillard is not in Miami central, norland, sta, or chaminades league going into the this upcoming season. Let them beat up on each other.    I believe this is a perfect schedule for Dillard if they’re atleast still an above avg program they should win this district with ease and have no more then 2 loses this year.    if not and they struggle even with this schedule then Dillard as a program is most def going backwards and I would hate that for my Alma mater.
    • I agree with you on everything you said. Why play these powerhouses and get the butt kicked out of you. Yes you're not running away from good opponents, however what does a 63-0 loss due to the morale of a bunch of young men.
    • Welcome to the new wonderful wild west of high school football in Florida. We need to create a new position at each school. Recruiting coordinator. Because that is the only way to win big in this state now at the highest levels. The haves can turn into have not by losing one cheater coach.
    • There are zero coaches on campus, every single coach left
    • There is 1,750 kids in the school. That would be their fault if they can’t field a team of 40-50 players. I know it sucks about the mass exodus. I get it. But even though they won’t be competitive for the time being they should at least have enough varsity players returning, JV kids, and newcomers to field a team.    They should have had an assist at coach resume spring workouts, and maybe got in on a jamboree with lesser teams or held an inter squad scrimmage. But to cancel everything seems a bit erratic
