I believe Dillard would beat the bottom three teams on the Herald list. That's at as minimum. But you gotta prove it on the field.

Yeah Dillard should probably be near the bottom of that list.

I don't hate Taravella being at 20. I don't love it, but they've had a nice start. They can validate the ranking if they beat the OOS opponent in Coffee (GA) this week.

If you ranked Dillard from 18-20 I wouldn't have a huge problem, but if they were just on the outside, I wouldn't have a problem either. Like Taravella, Dillard can prove they belong by beating a Gibbons team that is probably still favored to win this week.

Ah, the love for the Broward County private schools...all of whom have limited wins against the better Dade County teams in recent years.

Booker T, Palmetto, South Dade, and Coral Gables are all ranked behind Chaminade.  Based on what I saw this past weekend of Chaminade, struggling to put away a very pedestrian Alabama team, no way I would put money on them in a game versus those 4 teams.  Not saying Chaminade could not win...just lots of questions.

University School...no wins against the bigger Dade County teams in the past few years.  Chaminade is 3A and University is 4A.  Until those schools demonstrate on the field they can hang with the big boys of Dade, am not buying it.  With the depth of their rosters, those 8A teams have the ability to wear the talented, but much smaller schools down.

But wouldn’t moSt agree we just proved we belong last week vs a very solid western team the same western team that win to the regional finals beating highly touted Deerfield on the road and the team who beat Miramar at their house western went and beat them at their house for their second consecutive road playoff win ??

The same western team who was highly touted this year won their opener 38-6 and was favored to beat us ? To me their resume is far better then gibbons last year and unlike gibbons western actually beat stiff competition last year. Who have tarevela beat ? I’m sure we would be 2-0 with their first two games to creek to.

Our last 3 games have been against POWER HOUSE BTW Miami Jackson in KOC and regional finalist western last week. To me our resume is far more impressive as in why we should be ranked amongst.

I think Taravella is in for a rude awakening..along the lines of what happened to Dr Phillips against Lee County.  Coffee has a very strong program with great tradition.   This is not "just some little team from Georgia."  I would not be surprised if this one got ugly.  Hope I am wrong.  2016 state champion University Christian went up there and got smoked.

Well it's not the same Western team as the one that went to the playoffs last season, there are a lot of differences, though they are still a good team and Dillard absolutely deserves credit for the victory. And I personally don't think Booker T Washington is a powerhouse anymore. They're a good school but they just got handled against Central. To me, BTW will be a good, not great, and they're living off prior reputation a lot at this point. The Jackson win, though not a regular season game, was very good for Dillard.

Like I said, if Dillard was ranked, I wouldn't see an issue with it at all. Being ranked or not ranked in a week 3 poll is no big deal.

Actually, for the purposes of western’s playoff chances, they need Dillard to keep winning to help their playoff points and whatnot. So go Dillard! Lol

    • This is probably going to impact several different schools. Sumner will probably lose several key players to transfer. This means some schools are going to be getting unforeseen boosts as well. You'd assume that the schools in that immediate area might benefit. But, in this day and age, some players could end up far away. Tampa Robinson lost their head coach to USC, and their top recruit transferred...to Chaminade in Broward County.
    • As reported by Josh on this site, Sumner's head football coach, Alonzo Ashwood, was dismissed.  No reason for the dismissal was given, but it certainly wouldn't have been based on the team's on-the-field performance.   I've got a hunch the coach crossed one of those pesky rule lines, perhaps one too many times, and left the principal with little choice.   Again, just speculation on my part.   It'll be interesting to see what repercussions this has for the Stingrays.   Here's a link to Josh's article: http://floridahsfootball.com/2024/05/20/alonzo-ashwood-dismissed-at-sumner-after-four-seasons-per-report/
    • Vero’s offense struggled the entire game, the lone score came on a scoop and score via a fumble. White showed the characteristics of a presumed first year starter. His ability is there no doubt, he’ll just need to settle into the starting role.    West Boca was much more effective- leaning on their 4* running back Javian Mallory, can see them having another good year. They would have probably won the game had it gone a little longer.
    • If all the talk from the head coach about Dillard being bigger and better this year and how last year in his first year was a trial and error for him, it better be an easy dub. Lol
    • As For my Dillard panthers , this will be a huge test for us before things crank up for real in the next few months.    right now Dillard will be coming in this game with a lot of questions. Whose gonna be the Starting QB after a lot of controversy in last year playoff lost to ely where the fans and some of the players felt the sophomore back up should have replaced the junior starter after constantly turning the ball over.    the panthers also will be debuting a new OC & a new DC for the 2024 season. Last year while the defense was average to above average. Our offense appeared to be very basic & vanilla with No real offensive schemes to get the playmakers open.    we’ve gotten a few transfers in & promoted a few great players from JV to varsity. & with this being year 2 of Dillards new head coach & being placed in a new district I’m interested to see the adjustments & progressions in this season vs last season.    this has the make to be a very good game if the weather permits for all 4 quarters, but until proven otherwise I’m going to take the knights in this game in a final score of    DILLARD 21 MONARCH 28 what do you guys think of this matchup @nolebull813 @FBGUY1989 @cribboy305
