8 of the 11 teams in the region made the playoffs last year(those with a double asterisk), but only a couple had records worth bragging about.  Even 0-9 Gadsden and 2-6 Rutherford made the playoffs.  5 of the 8 teams were in this region last season (italicized below).   Santa Fe and Bradford both move over from 4A Region 2.

Raines moves out of the region, but Bolles moves down from 5A after a respectable playoff performance last year.  One would have to think Bolles will dominate the region like Raines did, even in a "down" year.  Team records from last season are listed below.

**West Nassau 9-3

**Bolles 8-5

**South Walton 6-5

**Marianna 5-5-1

**Santa Fe 5-6

**Bradford 5-6

**Rutherford 2-7

Fernandina Beach 2-8

Bay 1-6

North Bay Haven 0-6

**Gadsden 0-10

Word is the administration at Bolles wants their new hire guy to do well. As there is a lot of pressure on the administration for him to succeed. Heard they have let some kids in they weren't letting in the last few years.

Is West Nassau still with that ground and pound offense? We had a playoff game with them in 2009 and their ground offense was so difficult to deal with. Don't believe they ever threw a pass. Are they still a formidable team?

Been hearing that as well. They would be smart to not just let HS kids in but also MS

I believe West Nassau is running a mixture of that or they were at least. Saw an interview with their coach saying they were going to an up tempo no huddle offense. They aren't big and nasty like they were that year.

Bolles has snagged the best player from Episcopal and Ponte Vedra's team.

They have made the playoffs last couple of years so to some extent they must be good...... They just  ran into a brick wall called Jacksonville Raines who was too much for any team in the north brackets of the 4A.

Take Raines  out the equation then you might have a state finalist in West Nassau....

As for now, they have to deal with Bolles and Cocoa.

SMH, Bolles sounds like a team I know.

    • Made a second pass through Maxpreps for all 576 (11-man teams). Yes, it takes a while.  Here's what I've come up with through this morning: 265 Schedules are complete (assumes 10 game regular season beginning either Week 0 for SSAA or Week 1 for everyone else, unless out of state opponent. 311 Schedules have problems. Here's the breakdown: 218 schedules reflect less than 10 games 88 schedules are impacted by conflicts. ie. Team having more than one opponent on the same day- or- scheduled opponent has more than one opponent on that day. 5 teams have 11 games scheduled. Seems like there's a lot of information to be gathered and rectified over the next few weeks.
    • Went to both the Lakeland contest against Woodham and then the Saturday mid-day title game against Southridge the next week. Lakeland had no answer for the superior Woodham team speed on defense in the semi-final game. The next week title contest saw a opening KR for a TD by Woodham's Kerry Watkins to set the tone for this game. Felt Southridge was the more physical team, particularly with its running game. Each time however it appeared that Southridge was about to get back into a position to maybe take a lead, Woodham would find a way to re-establish its lead on the score board. Going up for that game led me, to learning about a super Soph across town at Ecsambia HS....as Escambia was playing ST Pete high thay night for the 3A state title. Woodham and Escambia would oddly enough both play for state titles the next year as well in Bradenton against Manatee and Southeast.
    • I agree with you on the Norland upset. I think the whole state of Florida knew Norland was going to win and convincingly. People in Miami were like who's Berkeley Prep or atleast I was thinking that. I don't know when Norland will ever get back to states in my opinion.
    • Biggest upset in Florida finals history. I would put Berkeley Prep over Norland second
    • Haha. Second-best win in Bartow history. I was present for the top win in their history, on a cold afternoon in Daytona Beach in 1996
