2016 Statewide Transfers - Public or Private

In reference to kids getting noticed, in todays era if you got the D-1 measurables for said position and you are a great player you will definitely get noticed. There are so many combines and camps that make it so much easier if you do go to a school that is not necessarily on the recruiting path. Also like mentioned above it is great to have a tool like hudl to send film out. The challenge is getting the kids that do not have the measurables but are great high school players. This is when the coaching staff comes into play. It may not state in the job description that it is part of the job to get kids into college but it is definitely expected by a respectable staff. Film for those athletes must be sent out numerous times during and after the season and contacts must be made. Most teams have more kids that fall into the D2/NAIA range and must fight their tail off to get those kids into school. It means a hell of a lot more to see a kid get a scholarship then winning any game.

Great insights coach you are obviously doing things right.  I won't ask your school but, what general area are you from?

I don't know any names and cannot confirm but maybe some of our guys up north can confirm:

Lots of players transferring into (including 4 Dr. Phillips players) First Academy?

Here is the latest on First Academy that I could find courtesy of Bright House Sports Network:

This has to be the strongest 3A Class we will will ever see until Classes get restructured.

Cocoa has boatloads of players transferring in from the surrounding area and are expected to field their best team ever?

First Academy, to a lesser extent, but like Bishop Moore, has always had the financial resources to build a strong program. It is affiliated with the largest Baptist Church in the Orlando area, and a few years ago had a really strong team that was ousted by Madison County? in the third round of the playoffs.

It seems that like Bishop Moore they have finally decided to put some resources into making a run. Coach Kinnard and his staff are well respected and pretty strong. So, they have the framework to make it happen. They just have a bad classification to contend with as Trinity Christian is not going anywhere. I was a bit surprised by the number of Dp. transfers there as I am unaware of any turmoil at Phillips. But from a distance perspective it is only a few miles east of Dp, so that does not create a commuting hardship for the transfers.

It should be interesting to see how this affects the respective fortunes of the two schools. Pipe Dreams, a Dp. alum and former player, probably has the juicy details.

That is just what I could find, and that is since early spring.   All the power to Cocoa as they should have a very strong team this year.  What really irks me about this though is the fact that if this had happened to this degree in a Broward or Dade school there would be whining, uproar and calling for an investigation.  Yet, it happens in Cocoa and a guy from Broward  gives the update on it ?   So no one else out there on this board heard anything about Cocoa loading up with what is likely 10+ transfers? LOL,  It is not just this board but generally speaking people always find time to point the finger at South Florida transfers yet when it happens in other parts of the state they become quiet as a mouse.  Why is that?

While it does seam like a lot Broward it is not against the rules for a student to transfer. Trenton caught hell last year because a few kids transferred in but nothing was said 7 to 10 years ago when several transferred out to another local school that by the way loaded up and played for a state title. There could be several reason for this dont just automatically accuse someone or a school of recruiting. Parents move or have hardships that force kids to move in with family. I have always made it a practice not to accuse someone of  a impropriety with out some sort of proof.

This particular list of kids/schools are all probably within 30 miles and all within Brevard County.

I doesn't bother me .....  It is just the hypocrisy of it all and the fact that no one in central or north FL update on the transfers.  Several of us in SFL try to keep everyone in the loop with transfers and it is as SFL is the only place it happens in the state?  Well, obviously it's not.  Here you have a former state championship team, consistently a state contender and for months no one mentioned anything about a mother-load heading to Cocoa.  People are too busy looking at the SFL transfers I guess.  In the end, I simply keep up with transfers for transparency and team forecasts purposes and find it interesting what kids will land where.  I also have always tried to made it a practice not to accuse one of wrongdoing.  The only somewhat wrongdoing here is it seems 95% of the Palm Beach/Broward/Dade transfers are transparent, the rest of the state - not so much.

As of a couple days ago it does not matter anyway.

Cocoa has to load up to compete down south. But weird that Dr.phillips is losing transfers they're usually a team that consistently making deep playoff runs, any coaching changes???

I honestly haven't heard of any notable transfers around us. A few young guys here and there but no one that has any name recognition.

I figured as much...I think a lot of recent transfers are generally in the Jacksonville/ Tampa/Orlando and maybe Brevard county area. A lot did happen this spring in those areas and there had to have been people on here that heard about them but just don't post .  Maybe we are just over-reporting it down here....

All hell may break loose in the next 3 weeks.  Kids and parents on the fence wanting to make the right decision.  Do want to start for a losing team or be a backup for a contender?  Do you want to give up your QB gig to be a WR or DB? Where will I get the most exposure? I imagine a lot of households are having conversations over those questions.

I could put some but like shark said most the names would be ones you all never heard of, that's why I don't speak about players on our team specifically because a lot of them I would have to give a paragraph description just to let you all know who they are lol

In the interest of full disclosure, Chance Bush who played for Dp last year, and who is a decent, if undersized defensive back, did suit up for the Blue team in the Apopka Blue and White game this spring and did attend Apopka during the final semester of the year. I see with interest he is now listed as going to The First Academy. While he would have added depth at the corner back position at Apopka, I don't think it matters greatly if he is not with us come fall.

Interesting...First Academy really putting in some late work to try to compete in what will be a extremely strong 3A season.  Where are many of the Agape Christian players expected to land?

Agape guys have already landed at new schools, per the Orlando Sentinel. Agape players have enrolled at Evans, Ocoee, Oak Ridge, Dr. Phillips and Jones.

The HC, who was also the men's basketball coach, is now at West Oaks Academy and is trying to revive their dead football program. Don't think he will revive it for 2016 though.

Since the huge coaching change and drama that went through Oxbride this is what has happened transfer-wise to my knowledge:

WR/FS 2018 Trey Green has transferred from Oxbridge Academy to Glades Central

MLB 2018  Kaleb McCarty has transferred from Oxbridge Academy to Dwyer

DE/TE 2017 Michael Fina has transferred from Oxbridge Academy to AHD

DE 2017 Jonathan Garvin has transferred from Oxbridge Academy to Lake Worth = 3* Rivals player -  has offers.

RB/FS  2018 Va'lique Carter has transferred from West Boca to Oxbridge Academy

OL 2019 Daquan Thomas has transferred from Palm Beach Lakes to Oxbridge Academy

The bulk of the talent on the Oxbridge Academy team is still intact.  The only significant loss to Oxbridge Academy on paper since late May and all of the stuff that went down was 2017 DE Jonathan Garvin.  He is a rivals rated 3* player.  Factor in Michael Fina at DE and you could say Oxbridge appears to have fallen apart at the DE position.  Outside of losing  Garvin I think Oxbridge will compensate for the other players.  Keep in mind that Oxbridge brought in 2 players as well. Still a few weeks to go and sure Oxbridge could continue to take hits but they could bring in players as well to be fair.  The summer is not over yet. If they start dropping 2 and 3* players over the course of a week than yeah I would say they have fallen apart.  For now, they still have a great coaching staff, lots of talent and perhaps the best secondary in PB County.

I just think saying Oxbridge has " completely fell apart" based on one significant player is a bit of an overstatement.  Remember Oxbridge probably still has at least 12+ players with offers and I would be willing to bet that  Oxbridge Academy has more players with offers then anyone in PB County including Delray-Atlantic, PB Gardens, Dwyer, AHD, and Glades Central.

    • When you right you right fam. At the end of the day. Anybody in dade, broward or palm beach know bout Dillard and know we don’t duck no team home or away. We down to line up any day.    but none of that puts points on the score board or guarantee victory. You can be ready and confident all you want, but if your team doesn’t have the personnel to match a national power house who gets in loads of transfers year and year out, 9/10 that score is going to be fairly lopsided.    and as much as I bleed Dillard day and night, and as much as it pains me to say. Dillard is not in Miami central, norland, sta, or chaminades league going into the this upcoming season. Let them beat up on each other.    I believe this is a perfect schedule for Dillard if they’re atleast still an above avg program they should win this district with ease and have no more then 2 loses this year.    if not and they struggle even with this schedule then Dillard as a program is most def going backwards and I would hate that for my Alma mater.
    • I agree with you on everything you said. Why play these powerhouses and get the butt kicked out of you. Yes you're not running away from good opponents, however what does a 63-0 loss due to the morale of a bunch of young men.
    • Welcome to the new wonderful wild west of high school football in Florida. We need to create a new position at each school. Recruiting coordinator. Because that is the only way to win big in this state now at the highest levels. The haves can turn into have not by losing one cheater coach.
    • There are zero coaches on campus, every single coach left
    • There is 1,750 kids in the school. That would be their fault if they can’t field a team of 40-50 players. I know it sucks about the mass exodus. I get it. But even though they won’t be competitive for the time being they should at least have enough varsity players returning, JV kids, and newcomers to field a team.    They should have had an assist at coach resume spring workouts, and maybe got in on a jamboree with lesser teams or held an inter squad scrimmage. But to cancel everything seems a bit erratic
