Opal in 1995 and Ivan in 2004.  Both hit the panhandle and flooded Alabama.

I considered Opal but never reached a Cat 5 status including off shore.

I would say Allen, Ivan, Mitch, Gilbert and Oval are all under consideration and knocking at the top 10 door.

Opal hit the week before my first wedding and wiped out our venue. Sometimes God sends you a very obvious sign and you still don't heed it.  lol

The problem with Opal was it formed and hit with very little warning.

Hurricane's 31 Florida 4 (1987)

Watched that one on a 13"  black and white.  Many others too.  I think I still have that tv in the attic and it still works.  Tonight I got to dig that tv out.

You could honestly put the 3 in 2004 as pretty much 1 event. Charley, Frances, and Jeanne all hit within 6 weeks of each other.

Charley was the strongest Hurricane to hit Florida since Andrew, Frances has to have been the largest ever to hit Florida, and Jeanne stayed over the state for like an entire week.
