the panthers take the road for their second district game of the year after Suncoast and dr Garcia was postponed.

our starting qb was lost in the 2nd quarter last Saturday with a broken leg from an apparent hole in the field. So it’s up to our back qb who was very good in Jv to finish this strong , get to the playoffs and see what we can do.

if we can get it done Thursday that would put us at (2-0) in the district with games vs Suncoast , Deerfield & Garcia at home to finish the year .

at best we can finish (8-2) which was my prediction to start the year , anything else after in regards to the post season would depend on how we finish this year and our potential playoff opponent. LETS GOOO DILLARD. @nolebull813

Terrible to hear about the QB. Field conditions in a lot of areas in Florida keep getting worse and worse except for these schools that go full on turf with the money they have. And even then if it isn't well kept...

It was a terrible injury. We were down 12-7 when it happen and after that every thing just went down hill.

in regards to the terrible fields all around Florida , Dillard was suppose to had been approved to get their field changed to full turf this season, which is why we supposedly had 5 of our first 6 on the road just in case the construction went into the regular season.

so I’m not sure what happen or why it got delayed or canceled. But with all that said we have to finish this year strong regardless because nobody , especially our opponents is not gonna have any sympathy.

8-2 seems reasonable with a home playoff game. The backup will have 3-4 games under his belt before it starts to get serious. Hopefully the teams rally’s and gets a head full of steam

Me & you both. I think if we can get in the playoffs at 8-2 and as district champions I think we could possibly get the first 2 games in the playoffs at home depending on how the seedlings go.

if I’m not mistaken if two teams from the same same district make the playoffs then they will face off in the same round. If both teams win in the first round.

so be as it may if Dillard & Garcia gets and Dillard beats Garcia for the district we can see them in the second round for the right for a regional final berth & if that happens. I will call that a very solid year for Dillard.

I’m not sure if the old way where you play district 13’s runner up and their champ plays your runner up but if so then it looks like you play Jensen Beach in the 1st round and John Carroll in the 2nd round. Neither is guaranteed. But definitely winnable

O ok , in the playoffs & regular season you respect every opponent, but if those do be our first 2 round opponents, I think we can get passed tho two off sheer speed & talent alone. Not to say they’re not talented but that side of Florida usually struggles with south Florida teams.

but first things first we have to get to the playoffs & that means winning Thursday. Then taking care of Suncoast & Garcia at home. That would put us at 4-0 in the district & the champs.

All a formality. Dillard will win every district game by multiple scores. The teams in the playoffs will be much harder. You are just using the district games to get the backup QB in rhythm

I can agree with that. Well two more days we will be in Boynton we will see how the back up do in his first full game after a week of preparation.

This is the projection based on records right now (according to USA Today)

Region 4

(1) Norland* vs. (8) Hialeah*

(4) John Carroll Catholic* vs. (5) Jensen Beach

(3) Plantation vs. (6) Archbishop McCarthy

(2) American Heritage-Plantation vs. (7) Dillard*

#7 is that with Dillard projected as district champions or is that projected with us currently being 2nd in the district because we only played one district game so far. ?

And also how in the world is Archbishop McCarthy the 6th seed and they lost all of their district games. They lost against plantation, heritage & norland all teams that’s in their district. Doesn’t that disqualifies them from the playoffs.

In other words Dillards best bet is to win this district and finish 8-2 because that #7 & 8th seed are gonna be early playoff exits for either team that gets it. Dillards ideal seeding opponent needs to be either JCC, Jensen beach or Archbishop. So we need to get that 3-4 seed.

Winning your district doesn't guarantee a top 1-4 seed this year, it just guarantees a playoff spot.  Dillard could win the district and still end up 5-8.

Hmmm interesting , so you mean to tell me 3 teams from 1 district can get in.??

again McCarthy is 0-3 in their district with Losses Vs Plantation, norland , American heritage which puts them in dead last in the district.

I get maybe 2 teams coming out a district. One has district champion and one because of a strong SOS. But three.

if that’s the case that means more then 1 school should come out of dillards district.

Dillard just has to go 4 wide and run outs with the slot WRs (they’ll be open all night with the defense Boynton plays). That should get the young QB some reps/confidence. Boynton plays off-man (about 10-15 yards off) so the short throws should be open all game.

Aye let’s hope we can take advantage and get to (2-0) in the district and 5-2 on the year

Districts only matter to the winners who gets the automatic spot.  After that straight rankings and districts mean nothing to anyone else. A team like McCarthy is above .500 and loses came against strong teams that really boost there SOS. So, 4 wins and loses to top teams are much better in the computer system then most the #2s from the other districts in region 4A. I am sure Garcia's is horrible for example and they play Northeast still, so even if they win that it will hurt their points even more beacuse Northeast is a bad 1 win team. It pays to play +.500  teams even if just hang around just about .500 yourself.

3 Games left though. Some of it will just sort itself out and teams records will drop.

I get that. But where I’m confused is that , I thought the district champ is guarantee a spot. And at most only 1 more team from that district can get in.

fir example norland beat heritage for the district champ spot. But that was before they were caught playing with suspended players , so they maybe banned from the postseason this year, we would have to wait and see.

but before all of that I had norland in as district champs , heritage in because of strong SOS.

which would leave out plantation & Archbishop.  But let’s say plantation even squeezed in because of SOS

I thought that would most def leave Archbishop out because they lost to those 3 teams. Which means yea they have a solid record but the 3 teams they lost to are in their district & already made it in.

    • That's sorta the ideal I have. Someone I spoke with leads me to be believe Lake Region wouldn't be interested.  Tenoroc on the other hand might. IDK?  I look at how the SEC does there scheduling; play your division,  3 from the other and 3 whoever out of conference.  Then a conference championship game.  I don't see why we couldn't have a 12 game regular season.  I'd like to convince a group of schools in another part of the state to do the same. Then our champ plays their champ.
    • North and South.      (North Bracket) Fort Meade Frostproof  Discovery  Mulberry  Lake Region  Hardee  Desoto    (South Bracket) Moore Haven  Lake Placid  Avon Park  Clewiston Lemon Bay  Labelle  Okeechobee      You play the other 6 teams in your bracket, and 4 teams from the other bracket. The following year you play the other 3 plus one of the others you played in the first year and that would rotate every cycle.
    • I got 14 teams and their enrollment. The numbers could be a little off but not by much    Moore Haven 311 Fort Meade 419 Frostproof 617 Lake Placid 807 Discovery 811 Avon Park 925 Clewiston 981 Desoto 1263 Hardee 1339 Lemon Bay 1350 Mulberry 1402 Labelle 1421 Lake Region 1553 Okeechobee 1745
    • I like the idea. If you get 12-20 or so teams and play a championship, I think the winner would feel validated.    Heck the rural class has 34 teams and they crown a champion. If the Heartland can get somewhere close to that it would seem like a legit championship
    • What I like about this new reformed Heartland Conference is its a group of peers with similar demographics, communities, traditions, and they typically play each other anyway.  Also the fact that they are taking matters into their own hands knowing FHSAA isn't going to make any real changes anytime soon. In my opinion,  Mulberry,  Fort Meade,  Clewiston,  Okeechobee and Moore Haven would fit right in. That's assuming they'd be interested and the current membership would let them in. Now we just need some others in other parts of the state to do the same.
