Muck Bowl week kicks off tomorrow with the baby Muck Bowl. Glades Central @ Pahokee (Jv). GC looks to avenge last seasons loss and strengthen their playoff chances, they seemed to have found their rhythm late in the season. PK, is coming off a BAD loss @Cocoa and 2 subpar performances (PB Gardens and Seminole Ridge) and not as sharp as they need to be this late in the season.

current standings

1 37.86 Pahokee

2 37.5 Wildwood

3 37.38 Frostproof

4 36.75 Crescent City

5 36 Williston

If Pahokee wouldn't have hit the hail mary vs Seminole Ridge they would be at 35.7 and out of the playoffs.  If they lose to Glades Central they will probably end up at 37.25 and Cresent City and Williston could end up with more points than 37.25

All we need to do is get into the playoffs..home or away it shouldn't matter....Talked to a couple of coaches about the Cocoa game and what they said just was to hard to believe.

Pahokee would be fine even with a lost. They highly likely to get 5 more points after Seminole Ridge beats winless Royal Palm, which would boost SR up to a category 1 team. Also of Palm Beach Gardens can muster up some confidence and knock of Park Vista, that will also add another 5 with Gardens going up to a Category 3. Crescent City is done playing, so the only way they can earn points is by some of their opponents moving up a category. Williston plays against a Chiefland team who is also fighting for their playoff lives.

most likely they get in with a loss but I figured in Seminole Ridge moving up but had PBG losing.  Crescent City even though they don't play has a couple of teams that could move up a category and pass them.

Basically, the lights got to bright for the team...the coaches had the game plan. Offensively, Cocoa will pull their backside guard and tackle, the play side linemen block down, and the back finds the hole...Defensively, they are a quarters coverage team, that looks man. They play man on the single WR (3 by 1) But mostly zone.It was over before it started

Why didn't Pahokee adjust to it ?

They got caught up in the HYPE of the game/ opponent. Same thing with Gardens and Gurvin Hall, but they were able to overcome that one

    • Dillard - I'm not sure that hiring a HS football coach is the same as bringing a student on board the team. I think that any school can hire any football coach that they want any time they want. They can even hire a football coach that is currently coaching at another school. Where did you find that it's illegal?
    • IMO the FHSAA should simply return to the previous rules that if a student transfers from one school district to another they would be allowed to in accordance with Florida law. However, that student could only transfer for academic reasons and would have to remain out of sports for the first full season of that particular sport. As I understand it, when the Florida Legislature passed the law that allowed students to transfer anywhere and at anytime they had academics in mind. It was a law that allowed students to transfer from a poor performing school academically to a good performing school academically and not for the explicit purpose of playing a game. I wonder if the Florida Legislature fully understands what happens when students are allowed to transfer explicitly for sports and how some of those transfers seriously disturb the natural flow of events with the sports team of those schools. To make matters worse they are now proposing that some high school students, that just happen to be good at playing a game, be paid for their participation. Truly amazing.
    • In the words of Chris Rainey...
    • Independent contractors....   What will go wrong with this?
    • I seriously can't remember how many times I had to do that very thing. Like Nolebull said in another discussion, the kids know kids from other schools and where the "hot hand" is. I never entertained discussions with kids or parents of kids from other schools. I know we lost some good ones because of it but I am ok with that.
