Transfer Season 2018

Heard another South Broward defection today. 2019 athlete Rodney Adderley transferred to Cypress Bay. The new head coach at CB is the previous athletic director at South Broward so that’s the connection I’m thinking there.

The other Doral names to look out for to possibly transfer now that camp is starting are:

'19 DL Denzel Daxon (transferred from Norland to DA)
'20 DE Samuel Anaele
'19 OL Wardrick Wilson
'19 TE Devanno Whitfield

Any idea where they end up?

I think a few of them were at Norland. So it's possible they go back there. Now this is pure speculation on my part lol take it all with a grain of salt. The coach that they followed to Doral mysteriously and coincidentally is off Twitter now.

Ive heard 25 players have left Doral along with 3 coaches. Heard a lot of players are still shopping for places to play

This years Flanagan it seems like.

South Broward and Doral Academy got waxed by transfers this year and coupled with oxbridge there was a huge shift down there

Dwyer looks to be biggest beneficiaries of the Oxbridge collapse

Don't be surprised if they make Orlando this year

STA, Dwyer, Venice against the rest of the 7A south field.

Only 2 threats in region 4 is sta and Dwyer

Region 3 has Venice, Braden River and Tampa Bay Tech but i don't see any of them beating the 2 in region 4

7a north race might be more interesting to watch

7a south basically down to sta and Dwyer at this point

This is the challenge I see with implementing in football the newly proposed system for other sports, ie put the top 64(?) teams in one division.  Imagine the system was already in place and Doral was in the top division based on their recent performance.  If they were, they would already be struggling to compete against the top-flight teams.  And after the team falling apart as it has, they would likely get blown out and look like they didn't belong in the top division anymore.

Things are just too fluid.  One day a team is competitive, the next they are set back, potentially for years.  And it could happen to almost anyone except for the dynasty teams like STA and Northwestern.

That's why i suggested the idea of keeping teams the way they are and just selecting d1/d2 at end of regular season

    • I seriously can't remember how many times I had to do that very thing. Like Nolebull said in another discussion, the kids know kids from other schools and where the "hot hand" is. I never entertained discussions with kids or parents of kids from other schools. I know we lost some good ones because of it but I am ok with that.
    • In a single word, "no." In a lot more words, see the following: (From 2023-24 FHSAA Handbook) 36.2 GENERAL DEFINITIONS 36.2.1 Athletic Recruiting. “Athletic recruiting” is any effort by a school employee, athletic department staff member or representative of a school’s athletic interests to pressure, urge or entice a student to attend that school for the purpose of participating in interscholastic athletics.   and this . . . 36.2.2 Improper Contact. “Improper contact” is contact, either directly or indirectly, whether in person or through written or electronic communication, by a school employee, athletic department staff member, representative of the school’s athletic interests or third parties, such as an independent person, business or organization, with a student or any member of the student’s family, in an effort to pressure, urge or entice the student to attend a different school for the purpose of participating in interscholastic athletics.  See Policy 37.    In fact, if the kid contacts the coach at another school, the coach is not supposed to communicate with the kid other than to refer the kid to the person at the school responsible for admissions.    Best I can tell, there is no exception for being able to reach out to a kid who plays a sport that is not offered by the school that the kid currently attends.  Perhaps there should be . . . but then you'd really be opening Pandora's Box.
    • So you are not allowed to talk to a kid who is not an active football player currently attending a school that doesn’t have a football team?
    • 1.  Ask around and get the kid's phone number. 2.  Call the kid.  3.  If that doesn't work, DM the kid.  4.  Once communications are established, try to convince the kid to come to your school.  There may be other ways, but I think this would be the easiest way to recruit a kid .
