Columbus vs Palmetto Now

I don't see anyone giving updates on Maxpreps or Scorestream, so here goes.

Palmetto received opening kickoff and was driving well.  Columbus strips ball from receiver and long return for TD.

Palmetto receive and pick six.

14-0 2 minutes in and Columbus' offense has not run a play.

Columbus offense gets ball for first time and on first play from scrimmage Kalani Norris(GA Tech commit) has 60-yard TD reception after turning on the afterburners.  21 points for Columbus with 1 offensive play and a little over 4 minutes into the game.

I may have made a mistake not picking Columbus in 8a south because they are destroying a very solid Miami Palmetto team like they a jv team

 

This may finally be their year to get that trip to Orlando after falling short for last few years in a tough 8a bracket

Wow, this kid is a 6'5" 210 sophomore at DE and was just in on sack.  Columbus D is tough.

Columbus 28-0, scores with 8 seconds left in first quarter. 

Impressive, balanced drive down field by Columbus.  Nice pass play for TD.

Columbus 35-0 1 minute into second quarter.

Palmetto 3 and out and punt is blocked and run back for TD by DE Rudy Puig, who had 2 INT's last week and nice coverage to disrupt pass play on this drive.  This kid is not even rated and is a senior.

This game is over. If the score hold up to half time, the running clock will put Palmetto out of its misery early. The great start by Columbus was obviously too much to overcome.

Columbus 42-0 after blocked punt by Rudy Puig, his second of the day.  And he very nearly blocked a third in the first quarter.  Whoever plays Columbus better have their special teams tuned up.

Palmetto fumbles the next play.....

Palmetto was 4-12 in the playoffs coming in to this game.  Every one of those games was played against a Miami team.  I don't even think Vero Beach could top a record of that sort, although Flotech will probably prove me wrong LOL.

Palmetto has never made it past the second round in the school's history.

While I haven't seen Palmetto play until this game, they have been a solid team this season. Lost by 1 to Southridge, had a nice blowout of Belen last round. But it was clear Columbus kicked them in the mouth early and they never recovered.  Either way this year's squad is solid on both sides of the ball and on special teams. Probably one of the best games I've seen them play this season.

 

Southridge/SD game winner next week should be closer. But I'm liking our chances going forward.

Miami Palmetto looked like anything but a 10-1 team..................hell it was 35-0, 1 minute into the 2nd QT.........and Palmetto from what I saw looked like the football version of the key-stoned "pun intended" cops up to that point of the game!
