Should just move the games to 11 AM-5 PM on Saturdays instead, most parents won't have to take off work, police force can work multiple games.
It is not like Duval County (outside of Raines and maybe Lee) has great attendance anyway.
Still a shame that outside forces cause this much pain on students, parents.

And ironically it was those 2 schools that most likely caused this change to happen in the first place

I am assuming this was for me. Little League and High Schools don't use the same fields to my knowledge and if they do, sounds fine to me. How much overlap is there between a high school fan and a little league fan/parent. How many police are necessary at little league/rec ball games?

As for colleges coming to games, I think most coaches are coming so that players see them not so that they see players. Most coaches are doing their scouting through video. And several Miami teams play their games on Saturday due to field sharing.

Again, I see understand why later on a Friday is better for fan attendance/parents, but I would be willing to bet that 11 am on a Saturday would get more parents than Friday at 6 pm. I would also state that you would get more high school students/average fans for a Friday than a Saturday due to tradition.

Its not going to be that big a deal.  I coached in Chicago where we started playing games at 12noon on Thursdays thru 8pm on Saturdays.  We went to 6pm games in Palm Beach.  The biggest issue was it being hotter.  The crowd sizes were smaller, but eventually filled in.

As a married father to a couple of little ones, getting to HS games has been hard enough. This might be easier on me as I can just leave straight from work. Regardless, I’ll be tuned in to 1010XL for the postgame show every Friday. Excellent show.

That being said, Saturday games would 1) completely eliminate my attendance as I spend my days inside gyms at wrestling tournaments or on the football field watching my little one play flag 2) split parents between pop warner and HS 3) the heat is dang near unbearable.

We should not let a few bad apples control the circumstances of our lives. The kids should be playing on Friday night if the field is open and the other team is there.

    • In today's recruiting era or I mean school choice era, a program in a talent rich area may implode for one year and then get a new coach and completely reload the next year and win a title. MNW imploded for two years in the 2022 (6-5) and 2023 (4-6) seasons with a combined record of 10-11. Along came Teddy and numerous transfers and boom 12-2 with a state title. Back in the day this would be a program disaster, not no more though.
    • I have 3 good friends that are retired from Hillsborough High. Ken Weiss, former track head coach and Charlie & Georgene Diaz.  Charlie, aka as Carlos, was the college compliance counselor and PA guy for the football games.  All three have always spoken highly of Earl and consider him a good friend.  I have a few Terrier football shirts that they have given me over the years.
    • Short term it's too late and players on this team are too invested to leave now. If it's just Teddy getting suspended, it'll probably be similar to what TFA will deal with. If anything, the team might play with more of a chip on their shoulders. LonI don't think many felt Teddy would be there a long time, anyway. How they fare long term depends on how things go at places like Central, Mater Academy and the other Dade schools. If one of those pops off and has an awesome year, they may get more of the talent in the future, so MNW may go back down to what they were before last season.
    • 57 teams per class is a travesty. What an embarrassment.
    • With all the off-season discussion, don't forget the FHSAA regular season kicks off in 5 weeks.  Last year, 460 teams competed in the 8 FHSAA championship classifications.  This year, 458 teams are competing in the FHSAA.  Not exactly the mass exodus that some were hoping for or predicting, but maybe it is coming down the road.  Or not.  In case you forgot your team's district or region foes, here are the 2025-26 FHSAA classifications:  https://fhsaa.com/sports/2020/1/28/FB_classifications.aspx Information on the SSAA football season can be found here:  https://www.sunshinestateathletics.com/page/show/5114520-football
