These 6 teams have all posted solid performances three seasons in a row and have established themselves as tough outs in the playoffs. I am not predicting any of them will win a state title, but their programs clearly have some good momentum. Winter Park(8A)-31-7 over the past three seasons. Have made it to the second round or beyond each season, losing to Mandarin last year and Wekiva the year prior.. Sarasota Riverview(8A)-30-8 over the past three seasons. Playoff losses came against Dr Phillips(twice) and Mandarin last season. Miami Palmetto(8A)-27-6 over the past three seasons. Three playoff losses came against very tough Miami-Dade competition. Navarre(7A)-32-6 over the past three seasons. Have made it to the second round or beyond each season. Vanguard(5A)-Have made it to the third round of the playoffs each of the past 3 seasons and won 10 or more games each season. Jones(5A)-Have won 10 games each of the past three seasons. Its 3 playoff losses came against Cardinal Gibbons(twice) and Cocoa. 2 of those losses were by less than a TD.

The first rankings of the season are up and you know as always... rankings are a crapshoot at this time of year! Enjoy!

I know Manasco and he had Westland winning 4-5 games a season, that's how I already knew he was a great coach lol. They got some transfers in over the summer to bolster the defense too. They handled Western, I didn't think that would happen. I think Palmetto is a legit state title contender.

Lake Wales(5A) 18-4 over the last 2 seasons and I see a 10+ win season this year. And they are now playing in a class that is closer to their actual enrollment. I wonder how well Thomas Co. Central woulda done, if they had played in the BIG BOY league in Georgia? They beat Colquitt 10-7 in regular season, and Colquitt finished with SIX losses in the BIGS! Unlike Florida, in Georgia, the size of a school DOES matter!

It’s a preseason game. Lakeland might be the best team in the state. Edgewater returned pretty much everyone from last year but the QB. It’s a long season. Don’t count out Osceola or DP yet. Osceola has Columbus and Cocoa weeks 2 and 3 so a 1-2 start is likely

What's scary is on paper this DP offense is as loaded they've been since 2010. I said I wasn't going to get into it... let's just say I'm a confused man at the moment. I can't scale the damn thing like I used to.... Lakeland and Edgewater look light years ahead of two major 8A contenders, and there has ALWAYS been parity at that level especially in C-Fla. The times are changing. This year may seriously rebalance some of the high parity we've seen in years past in C-Fla....It's sImilar to the early 2000's when (guess who) Edgewater and Lakeland were a notch above the rest (in addition to Armwood and the occasional outlier team like 02 Apopka). Rant over... not even gonna proof read it.... DP @ Seminole will be VERY telling especially when comparing the best of 8A vs the best of 7A. I have Seminole 35-20 because I can't pick DP in every game for eternity and need to keep my board drip level on at least 90. McClain could have himself a day
