Even though they lost to Palmetto, I don't believe Palmetto is as good as Homestead. In fact, I don't think Palmetto belongs in the top 10 after watching the first half of the Columbus game. They were totally outclassed even though Columbus was only up by 15.

Aside from that, I like your rankings of Miami/Broward.

Homestead belongs above Palmetto.

I understand the homestead narrative but being that palmetto just beat them fair and square week 1 they belong over palmetto for now.

if this was a KOC victory by the panthers then I get you. Yes palmetto looked bad vs Columbus, but who’s to say homestead wouldn’t have faced that same fate. Since palmetto homestead has faced 2 cupcakes in a row. Yes they’re still very good & capable of a run towards a title but as of right now palmetto holds the head to head.

Booker T is ranked too high. I dropped them this week frankly because they haven’t beat anyone yet with a pulse. Their best “win” is not getting blown out by Miami Central. But they have no marquee wins. So they haven’t been able to prove anything yet.

BTW would win 4s

I get you on that. But outside of MC, CHAMINADE, AHP, NORLAND, DILLARD Not many teams in the top 15 have played a tough schedule. Which is crazy.

i would rather be 1-2 playing tough competition vs being 3-0 playing inferior opponents and getting embarrassed in the playoffs.

yea it sucks being 1-2 but dillards SOS is about to be the biggest thing that gets them into the playoffs if they can’t beat STA this year.

If you seen them play you would retract this statement. BTW can beat anybody rn & they aren’t even at full strength.

I’m saying that they haven’t had a chance to prove it yet other than a non blowout vs an elite team. They don’t have one good win to date. What if they lose to Norland and beat everyone else? All the other teams aren’t good. So they will be 8-2 with no good wins. How do you judge that?

And for the record I had them in my top 20 the whole year so far.

Pretty solid. If the Columbus/Palmetto game wasn’t  interrupted a couple times with lightning, Explorers would’ve at least doubled the score. Palmetto offense worse than other years, when they were bad. Agree with the board that Homestead is a better team. Creek vs Ely & Mir vs Dillard will  be important games as far as the lower 15.

That may very well happen but there’s a playoff bracket also where redemption is possible. Between Central Norland & Booker t 2m is a 3way gauntlet, any mans game.

You need to insert Treasure Coast and Vero Beach into your picks!

His South Florida only includes Dade and Broward Counties. He doesn't even include Palm Beach County let alone the Treasure Coast teams. PBC is most certainly south Florida. Regarding Treasure Coast, you can make the argument that it's its own separate region, or you could include it in south or central Florida.

    • Made a second pass through Maxpreps for all 576 (11-man teams). Yes, it takes a while.  Here's what I've come up with through this morning: 265 Schedules are complete (assumes 10 game regular season beginning either Week 0 for SSAA or Week 1 for everyone else, unless out of state opponent. 311 Schedules have problems. Here's the breakdown: 218 schedules reflect less than 10 games 88 schedules are impacted by conflicts. ie. Team having more than one opponent on the same day- or- scheduled opponent has more than one opponent on that day. 5 teams have 11 games scheduled. Seems like there's a lot of information to be gathered and rectified over the next few weeks.
    • Went to both the Lakeland contest against Woodham and then the Saturday mid-day title game against Southridge the next week. Lakeland had no answer for the superior Woodham team speed on defense in the semi-final game. The next week title contest saw a opening KR for a TD by Woodham's Kerry Watkins to set the tone for this game. Felt Southridge was the more physical team, particularly with its running game. Each time however it appeared that Southridge was about to get back into a position to maybe take a lead, Woodham would find a way to re-establish its lead on the score board. Going up for that game led me, to learning about a super Soph across town at Ecsambia HS....as Escambia was playing ST Pete high thay night for the 3A state title. Woodham and Escambia would oddly enough both play for state titles the next year as well in Bradenton against Manatee and Southeast.
    • I agree with you on the Norland upset. I think the whole state of Florida knew Norland was going to win and convincingly. People in Miami were like who's Berkeley Prep or atleast I was thinking that. I don't know when Norland will ever get back to states in my opinion.
    • Biggest upset in Florida finals history. I would put Berkeley Prep over Norland second
    • Haha. Second-best win in Bartow history. I was present for the top win in their history, on a cold afternoon in Daytona Beach in 1996
