Polk 14 total: Lakeland 6, Bartow 3, Frostproof 3, Haines City 1, Fort Meade 1

Dade County has over 10 different public high schools who have won state titles.  Polk County has 5 different public schools that have won state titles.  Which county has the second-most number of different schools that have won FHSAA state titles?  It is not Polk County.

Palm Beach County. If not, then Escambia County.

No. Neither of these had a stellar record during the 20th Century.

I guessed those because duval and broward are both dominated by privates

Here's a interesting stat that shows how badly duval county underacheives

Columbia county with 2 public schools have as many public schools to have won a state championship in football as duval county (1 each)

Duval county has close to a million people

Columbia county barley has 50k people

Yet add in university Christian, trinity Christian and Bolles and suddenly duval is loaded in championships

The talent is there but those publics have no consistency and I don't expect the stat of raines being the only public in duval with a state championship to change

Palm Beach has 5 Public Schools with a championship.

Glades Central, Pahokee, Dwyer, Delray-Carver, and Palm Beach Gardens

Very good MuckCityChamp...For those who don't know, Carver was a segregated school in Delray that won titles in the 1960's.

Palm Beach ties with Polk and Broward with 5 schools. Only 3 counties have more than 5 public schools with championships.  Dade is #1.

Darter guessed a longshot with Escambia...hmmm

Brevard.  Merritt island, cocoa, rockledge, Palm Bay, Titusville, Melbourne

Very good!  Brevard is #3 on the list with 6.  That's right, more than all those huge counties like Broward, Palm Beach, Hillsborough and Orange!  Melbourne High won a title in the 1960's and Merritt Island in the 1970's.  That is some rich history Brevard!

Who is #2?

Is it Escambia like previously mentioned? Escambia, Pensacola, pine forest, Tate, Washington, Woodham and someone I’m misding?

It is Escambia!  And ya'll missed one.  8 Escambia public schools won state titles....at least one winner in each of the last 5 decades.   Here they are...

Ernest Ward(1A/1979),  Escambia(3A/1984, 4A/1985), Northview(1A/2012), Pensacola(3A/2009), Pine Forest (5A/1987 &1988, 4A/2000) Tate(4A/1980), Washington (6A/1994), Woodham(4A/1982 & 1984-school closed in 2007)

Note:Century and Ernest Ward utlimately became Northview.  West Florida High is a rising power and may make it 9 in the next few years!

So, in order it is...

Miami-Dade-11 public school champions

Escambia-8

Brevard-6

Broward, Palm Beach & Polk-5
