Credit to Bobcats for not quitting and continuing to battle.  More credit to the group of refs that helped them in that effort.  Enough said as the important thing was to survive and advance again on the road.  Another Monday.  GO KOWBOYS!!

Great win Ray. Congratulations! Maybe I’ll meet ya at the stadium next week!

Congrats Kowboys!  Good luck next week against West Boca.

Anxious to get home to see how well they throw the ball as BUCHHOLZ ran it a total of 4/5 times but only twice out of a wildcat that was a designed run.   They passed virtually on every down and got lots of help with at least a half dozen PI’s to keep drive’s alive.

What are you referring too with the officials?

We have had our share of missed calls throughout the year, but so have other teams therefore I haven't had reason to be critical of the officiating this year.  Don't know the exact numbers, but yardage wise for penalties it was probably around 150 to 50.  More importantly, they called back 2 touchdowns and numerous other successful plays against our offense in critical moments to force a punt.  Meanwhile, when we did manage a 3rd down stop against them, we would get a PI (half a dozen this game) or a roughing the passer or something else helping them keep the ball and the drive alive.  They threw the ball the entire game (48 attempts), which was their strategy since they knew the run would not work, good for about 380 yards.  But you pick your poison and despite 5 TD passes he had 4 INT's along with 4 or 5 sacks.  Everyone knows holding can be called almost on any play, yet they never called it once against them the entire game with that many passing attempts with our side clearly seeing it being done.  I can sight other individual examples, but it is probably pointless and I am not suggesting the refs cheated, only that the calls seemed to be pretty one sided.  The result of this is the coaches had to keep the kids head in the game as when they continually feel the calls are against them it is demoralizing, but they did manage to fight thru it.  GO KOWBOYS!!

I was hoping the Kowboys would get the win.  Looking forward to seeing them in Miami.  Just curious.  How was the condition of the field?  The way it is talked about I thought it might have been a positive for Osceola because of their strength in the trenches.

Pretty chewed up as others have pointed out.  Don't think it affected either team as they are used to it and we were able to run the ball effectively despite it.   Enjoyed meeting you during the OHS vs Jones game and maybe we will run into each other in Miami.  Funny thing is our 2 losses that possibly could have gone the other way are to the 7A finalist Lake Mary and 4A finalist Jones.  That sealed our fate as being a true contender for the 6A crown, but somehow we are managing to prove those naysayers wrong.  These last two victories to propel us there were against teams ranked higher than us as well as being on the road.  One last obstacle to overcome.

Ray, I believe a number of people discounted Osceola this year because of the disappointing year you had in 2023. Those not close to the program don't understand how bad the injury bug hit you last year. This year has been a more normal one for Osceola injury wise and your team is demonstrating what it can and could have done.

Good luck new week. Due to my departure plans, I won't make the state finals this year. However, I will endeavor to watch most of the games via streaming.

BTW, I took the liberty of sharing your contact information with Mark. I hope you don't mind.

Hope your relocation goes well and its been a pleasure making your acquaintance.  Every team that has had to battle physically during the last 2 weeks to get here is probably a bit banged up.  We are no different but will enter the final pretty much intact.  At least it won't be as cold as it was last night.B)

No, it should not be given they are in Miami unless a powerful front comes through.

I think Osceola has the best chance of lifting a title of the three Orlando area teams, but I actually think all thee have realistic chances of winning.

    • And that’s where I’m at with it. I’m sure teddy heart is in the right place. But if we’re gonna keep it real, between last year and this upcoming year MNW has received well over 50 transfers a lot of them that are from different counties and stay nowhere near MNW.    some of them maybe because of changing environments for a better life etc etc, but it’s also 2025 and lot of the transfers was to follow the hype train.    while the uber rides can be a touchy subject depending on the kids situation, he also mentioned he needed thousands in donation for recovery, I get it he went pro and a lot of these assets he had in the league, but a lot of what he’s asking for isn’t even a high school requirement.    when I played ball out recovery was a ice bath lol. He then went on to say 4,000 a week for food ? , what are they eating lobster.    then he said for the three day gym stay he had to front 14,000 dollars for the kids. 14,000 to sleep in the gym for 3 days for what I’m assuming is for team building, is still insane.
    • Nolebull, You are making a good argument for what the rule ought to be or why the rule ought to be changed.   I'm telling you what the rule is.  Interestingly, I witnessed first hand the FHSAA deal with a case that was very similar to the (presumably, hypothetical) one you just described.  A family provided a kid with a bed for the night because that kid had an unfortunate family situation that would have left him homeless for the night had a teammate's family not stepped up and given him a place to stay for the night.  Yep, you got it, impermissible benefit.  Coach and school penalized.  The difficulty is coming up with rules that can't be taken advantage of.  Where do you draw the line?   If paying for an Uber is OK, why can't you just buy the kid a car instead?  More convenient for all parties.  If you can buy a kid a meal, why can't you take his family grocery shopping and let them stock up?  Or, better yet, just give then a gift card and let them spend the money as they please.  What do you do when one school offers up a $1,000 gift card, but another school is willing to give the kid a $2,000 gift card?  Do we really want to turn high school sports into professional sports?
    • Some kids NEED to transfer to get in the best position to change the trajectory of their entire life. Could literally save their life. Difference between going to college and being stuck in your neighborhood getting lost to streets.    And I can only speak for myself, but I’m more interested in a at-risk kid changing his situation for the better in hopes of saving his life than your favorite high school team losing a game because he transferred from your favorite school.
    • I wouldn’t be so critical of the FHSAA if they didn’t lie and say they give 2 craps about student athletes. I wish people would just be honest. But I guess if they were honest, it would mess up their hustle.
    • Wait are you saying there is a rule that bars an adult mentor who coaches young men a sport from helping a struggling student athlete and his family with transportation? Whoa that’s next level crazy.    “Hey coach I’m on the side of the road and almost got hit. I’m miles from school and it’s 110 degrees out. Can you get me a ride?” ”Sorry. Some turds 6 hours away in Gainesville said I can’t. Hope you don’t get hit or pass out.”
