And what i said was our preseason game result wouldn't have been different had it counted,  people here were trying to insulate we would have lost by 60 to Apopka had it been regular season game but we played starters the entire game so I don't see how people can claim the result would have changed 

 

I also took offense to people acting like south Florida teams like AHP and BTW took their games serious but then acting like we were just playing backyard ball with apopka

The key word is "historical."  When one looks at the history of these programs, they have been chronically underperforming.  Of late, 8A , although very competitive, has been up for the taking.  So DB and Vero has had as good a chance as anyone.   

At least with DB, they have made a number of deep runs over the past 25 years and have put up a fight against some tough competition.  So, I have a certain amount of confidence when they play.  ..unlike Columbia and Vero.

Although I would not necessarily have expected Vero or Columbia to win it all of late, what is shocking to me is how they have failed to be competitive in so many years.  ..ie Columbia has made 15 playoff runs since 2000 and only made it to the semi's twice, getting blow out both times.

Wake me when you travel to Tallahassee in the playoffs and get 2 wins in a season over them including beating them by 37 points on the road in the playoffs like we did a few years back 

 

But hey remind me when you all win a road playoff game like we did in 4 of the last 7 seasons

I never said that beating a team in the 4th round of the playoffs was the same as beating them in a KOC 

just because people play starters doesn't mean the result would be the same.  Lots of factors go into it that you have to be able to see and have an inside knowledge.  I just watched a spring game where a team lost a close game but if the two teams played again in the fall it might be a running clock.  Apopka fumbled 4-5 times that night.  They were clearly the better team and the season results showed that.  It wouldn't have been a blow out but I'm willing to bet Coach Darlington used that as a teaching lesson and they didn't turn the ball over 4 times in any other game.  Most of those turnovers were self inflicted and not forced also.

I thought Vero was the best team in 8A this year and should have won it all.  This is the first year I have felt that way.

Glades Central will be down this year probably a first round exit if they slip in with the point system formula I felt last season booker t should have been in that spot but with the flawed part of the system Glades central got in over Booker T I don't think that will happen this year though. Glades Central only dressed about 25 kids which is crazy to think coming from a program like that but I'm sure they will have more dressing by the season but they fought hard but deerfield just had to much fire power on their side

when a team has disappointed you for so long I wasn't surprised either however with that said they were the better team in my opinion and shouldn't have lost

I don't think they were the better team because of this Riverview only needed one qt to beat Vero and when Vero was making that lil comeback they could have picked up a fumble during the kickoff return but they let that slip away and then on that same drive Riverview only had like 55 seconds to score and they succeeded they to me was better coached than Vero was

As I have said before, Vero's problem historically has been defense.  Just watched the end of the Riverview game from 2:44:00 on.  Momentum and home crowd on their side, but body language of the Vero defense screams ... ..lacking confidence...no "not in our house" chest-beating.  The 7-yard run up the middle with 20 seconds left and it's like "Oh well."  No pounding the ground in disgust.  Vero could have/should have won that game.

If that’s the case and only dressed 25 and still put up 21 points on Deerfield wen their pose to b down seem to me Deerfield isn’t elite on defense again and wen the year is over if playing cupcakes in their district and actually has to play a defense that excels in defense their gonna fold watch

Deerfield Beach does have a final 4 run in 2016 but unlike us has never won a championship 

 

Also major difference between Columbia and Vero Beach 

 

We don't schedule easy games to pad our win total 

 

In fact overall we generally go into playoffs with multiple losses but key part, against playoff teams 

 

2011, 3 losses in regular season, 1 to a GA team,  other 2 were to district champs

 

2012 and 2013, 1 loss each year, both to district champs

2014, 2 losses in regular season  both to playoff teams

 

2016, 3 losses in regular season, 1 to a state champion, 2 to District champs 

 

2017, 3 losses in regular season, 1 to a state champ, 2 to other playoff teams 

 

 

 

While we have struggled with making deep runs i assure you there are more differences between these 2 schools and Columbia then similarities

Dr. Phillips was on that outlier list until December.... I am certain that one state win (in the last, say, 10-15 years) gets you off of it.

Do Vero Beach, Lake City Columbia or Deerfield Beach have a state title? All three should.

What other good programs don’t have a title? This sounds like an EXCELLENT THREAD.

That’s actually what I thought... and Vero’s was a while ago.... Columbia in the early 90’s or so...

In terms of 2000’s I’d say all three lead the state in the category of programs without a title.

Right now we have several bad streaks in the playoffs if we lose on the road in the playoffs this year then we'll have 13 straight break the record tie for most losses on the road in the playoffs
