  1. Wow, this Madison/Columbia smack talk is pretty intense!

  2. Thank you for sharing your thoughts. If we are going to give Lakeland the benefit of the doubt, I think we need to give EVERYONE the benefit of the doubt, unless there is proof of cheating. No need to point out what others are/are not doing if one's own house is clean, ie "how about Plant?"..."how about south FL?" etc etc as I have read in some posts(not yours Legion). For good reason or not, private schools have been questioned and accused for 50+ years. Now maybe some public school folks know what it feels like to be in the spotlight....and it's not always fun. Like the old saying, time for some of their own medicine. No need to be offended by questioning. It comes with the territory. I'm not a private school homer, but I see the hypocrisy that some of the private school folks talk about today. From a strictly selfish standpoint, if I am having to accept things the way they are today in the hs game, fine. But if we are going to have superteams, please act like superteams and don't bore us with 50+ point non-district blowouts. Picking on totally outclassed teams is boring and leading to disinterest in the game by some fans.

  3. Here’s a bizarre story. Randazzo from Coconut Creek has a maxpreps profile for football and says they are currently 4-1. The coach listed is Tyler Johnson. Heres the crazy part. I called the Randazzo school and they said they don’t have football. They are a special needs school for K-12, and they never even heard of someone named Tyler Johnson employed at that school!! Lmao!!!

  4. But in a way all private school kids are "recruits" whether they play a sport or not. All students at a private school choose to go, usually for lots of reasons other than sports. Private schools are in the business of getting students to attend, period. Private schools need to make profit in order to survive. Some are established enough to have a core of "legacy" families but they still need full numbers and thus actively recruit both the local area and sometimes around the nation. When I was leaving Southwest Jr. High (now Middle School) to go to Lakeland High, 1/3 of our team went to Lakeland High, about 1/2 to Kathleen High (depending on which side of US92 you lived on) and the remaining to Santa Fe Catholic HS, including our really good QB. Santa Fe has never been much of a Football power but his parents wanted him to go to Santa Fe for academic reasons. Santa Fe, Admiral Farragut and Bolles all had booths set up at our Jr. High at one point or another and were offering up info on their schools, sports etc... to be honest if I had lived closer to Admiral Farragut I might have pressed my parents to go there.

  5. As I see it, these are two different issues: sportsmanship, on the one hand, and rules on the other hand. With sportsmanship, there is a judgment factor involved and reasonable people often can have different opinions as to whether something is sportsmanlike or not. Take, for example, a team who calls a timeout with 3 seconds to go in the half, when they're already up 31-0, to attempt a field goal or perhaps a Hail Mary. Sportsmanlike? Probably not, but I could probably argue the other side of this one under the right set of circumstances. Rules, on the other hand, should be black and white. Either they are being followed or they are being broken. Either a coach or a player is recruiting or they are not. Sure, there may be a few gray areas, but by and large, something is either legal or not. I'm not sure what you mean about the private schools and the excuses being offered up. I gather, from other posts, that you're talking about the rationalization given for those who make the decision, at some point in their high school football career, to transfer to a private school because that somehow provides them with an opportunity they otherwise would not have had. Or is it something else? To be honest, I understand the "we provide a better environment" argument, to a certain extent. People (adults and high school football players alike) want to be part of something that's successful. Human nature. If a kid has an opportunity to be part of a successful high school football program, and the rules permit it, it's kind of hard to fault the kid for moving. In my opinion, that's why the rules have to prevent it and why all schools - public and private alike - should have to follow the same set of rules. If you're referring to something else, please explain.

  9. Columbiafan, not sure what you have against AHP but ranking TCA ahead of them when it was proved very clearly on field that TCA is not. Entitled to your opinion but it’s contradictory to your own words about beating someone high and move up.

  10. I hope it does not. It is one solution, but it does not appeal to me. There are a lot of negatives to structuring athletics that way. For one, in most states it would lead to automatic racialization of sports. For another, it would automatically put a stigma on lower socio-economic schools. I do support, at least to a degree, the proposals I have seen on this board to have promotion/demotion based on performance. However, to have totally separate leagues, does not appeal to me.

  11. They are ranked ahead of like 140 Florida schools. This is comical. Poor Windermere can’t even be ranked ahead of a fake school.

  12. I can respect this post. I would be willing to bet no Lakeland coaches are cheating. That doesn’t mean all the transfers are legal. Lakeland has a great program and a great coach.

  13. You know, at this point, I don't know whether we should blow the whistle on whoever is behind this or, alternatively, go along with the gag . . . have guys start showing up at their games and giving reports, throwing them in the Pick Em one week, someone could create a dummy account on here and be a big Randazzo booster, etc. I'm sort of intrigued now. What, exactly, is their end game?

  14. Soooo I called Lee County football coach in South Carolina. He wasn't available at the moment but I talked to his secretary. I explained the situation to her and asked if by any chance their team traveled to play Randazzo in Florida... She said, Travel to Florida to play a football game??? Um no way that every happened honey. lol It's bizarre

  15. so all of their opponents are real schools... who don't have football programs. This seems like a student project to see if they could infiltrate maxpreps system and become highly ranked never playing a game

  16. So looking over the roster this is definitely made up lol #90 Steph Durant 6-4 275 #99 Kevin Curry 6-6 300 Steph Curry and Kevin Durant lol #42 Willie Crain SR. LB #44 Will Crain So LB Oline could start for the Dolphins Anderson Silva 6-2 280 Brent Price 6-6 270 Junior Lewis 6-5 300 Caleb Johnson 7-0 300 Freddy Suter 5-11 270 This is really weird. Are the schools they played real schools is the next question

  17. So, they're in the same region. And, it would be possible for a 9-1 MC team to have a higher RPI than a 10-0 Dillard team, based on the record of MC's opponents and MC's opponent's opponents versus the record of Dillard's opponents and Dillard's opponent's opponents. MC could end up with the higher seed and, thus, home field advantage.

  18. Dillard, if I'm not mistaken, Classes 1-4 do not have districts. They just have four regions and the top 6 teams in each region make the playoff (top teams and seeding determined by RPI). For classes 5-8, there are four regions. Within each region, there are four districts. The four district champs are in the playoffs, seeded 1-4 per RPI. The four best teams in each region (per RPI) also make the playoffs, and get seeded 5-8. If Dillard and Miami Central are in different districts, a team with one loss could indeed end up seeded higher than a team with no losses.

  19. Coach

    Truth

Regardless of scheduling, winning that many games in a row is not easy. Getting kids up for every game and every opponent week in and week out is tough. That's why a lot of teams don't win 56 games in a row. They still have to go out and win every Friday, which they've done for a while now.

  20. To be honest, this is why nobody really even cares that Lakeland won other than those "diehard fans" is because it's not even respectable due to the fact that 80% or more of their starters were at different schools for their junior year of HS. Now with that being said, the talent that Demarcus Bowman and others have is undeniable. A couple of those guys are true Lakeland players, but as for the rest it's almost laughable at the players they have on their team who were recruited over. I say recruited because that's exactly what it is. People can say all day that "nobody is recruiting, it's just a better program...blah blah blah." Coaches are calling parents, boosters are reaching out to people, community people are becoming the "bag guys" for these schools. Like i said, it's why nobody really respects if they win.

  21. The funny thing is not one UCF fan even heard of the Colley-Matrix made up algorithm until the seen the computer chose them. Then all of a sudden it’s the go to source for crowning national champs. Its pathetic and their fans are delusional

  24. Lowndes vs Valdosta is next week (Valdosta beat Colquitt). Both teams are 5-0 heading into the game, I might dare say Valdosta and Lowndes are back to being great.
