    Gaither 0 vs Armwood 14

Tough defensive battle yesterday night. Gaither held Armwood to 3 first downs in the 1st half. The only first half score came off a strip ball by the Armwood defense (late in the 2nd quarter). Score at half time was 7 - 0 Armwood. Armwood next score came late 3rd quarter. The Gaither defense stood strong, but in the end Armwood came out on top. It was a great Test for Gaither, Gaither boys demeanor was good, they are ready for the playoffs. First time in school history, Gaither ended the season 9-1, not bad.

  2. Yeah blountstown and Baker don’t have a shot Wonder if the 1A teams start crying about Madison county the way they used to about NFC and UC. They will add a 0A class. Lol

  5. Kid stop sounding like a broke legged puppy and find a way to help your beloved Tigers get better. No one dislikes Columbia, just stating the facts. And FACTS don't have feelings. p.s. LWales RPI > Columbia RPI... and 5A > 6A this year.

  6. Up here it would be Terry Parker. Decades of losing to 7-2 and playoff bound.

  7. It was not perfect due to the large number of penalties, but Apopka played its best game of the season tonight. The final score was 34-0. Things of note: 1. Wekiva did not get a first down till more than halfway through the third quarter; 2. Apopka recorded three interceptions and a fumble recovery; 3. Apopka found itself a kicker that can actually put the ball into the back of the end zone (Vasquez). I am guessing he came up from the freshman or JV team; 4. Given the fact that 8A has no dominant teams, if Apopka can sustain tonight's performance into the playoffs and remains relatively healthy, it could make a credible run. I revise my opinion of the defense, it is not top third, it is top 20% of all the Apopka defenses I have seen over the past 21 seasons. Regarding the offense, it is still a work in progress, but showed signs of life tonight. Other matters: 1. Davis-Hamilton was on hand for the senior night activities, and was on the sidelines to support his former teammates. If he were healthy and still a part of this team, it would have made a heck of a difference to the offense. 2. I did not see the backup QB, Joey McCann dressed out. If he is no longer with the team, that would be unfortunate as aside from the starting QB, Lohman, he is the only player I have seen that can throw the ball effectively. To go deep in the playoffs, this Apopka team needs a passing game. Anyway, Go Blue Darters, prove this skeptic wrong!

  8. So as y’all know the biggest game of the year in broward is here & it’s gonna draw a crowd in the thousands. long short ely as the host was to distribute a portion of the pre sale tickets to Dillard so both schools can sell pre sale tickets today at their respective schools. tell why those flat foots refused to give Dillard AD any pre sale tickets for tomorrow while you have hundreds of Dillard fans literally calling Dillard all day trying to come get tickets for tomorrow and there was none cuz ely tryna b slick. so everyone has to purchase them tomorrow from 12pm to 5pm at the tailgate for both schools at ely and by game time at 5 they will try to say it’s sold out SMFH. ely we finna stop a mud hole in y’all rump we still fina have mo fans and make this a home game

  9. Citrus finished 9-1, losing to a Nature Coast team they should have beat. That allowed a 5-5 NC to win their district. That should never have happened. I wasn't aware they lost their coach, but they still should have beat NC. They may get lucky and draw the team fro St Augustine in the first round. If they face anyone else, they should go down.

  10. Columbia didn't blow anything. North Marion was obviously the better team on Friday and defeated them fair and square.

  11. We play teams because they good, not because they a large school, us go scheduling someone like Kathleen just because they bigger does nothing for us Not to mention the fact that many so called "powers" won't even play us, we got to play who will actually agree to schedule us

  15. Teams have realized that CHS has guys weighing a 110 pounds playing DT. so why not run the ball in the middle for 4 yards at a time.

  16. I know they are. He said "state" which I took as just completely going past them. I feel your frustration. We have one of those types of teams up here. All hype and no go. That would be Sandalwood. But at least Deerfield gets to the playoffs and wins some games. Sandalwood, usually loaded with D1 talent, never even sniffs the playoffs, but their hype machine is full blast every year.

  19. For many years all the Arlington talent would automatically migrate to Sandalwood. Good to see TP now having some success.

  20. The Colts top RB Gilmore, after scoring the Colt's first TD, went out with an injury and never returned. That was half of their offense right there. They managed to survive. Columbia has a roster of 63 so losing a couple of players should not be that big of a deal. I don't know why people just can't give the 5A Colts credit for going up to Lake City and defeating the 6A Tigers fare and square.

  21. Watch out for Miami Palmetto. This is a program that has been on the rise. They won a shootout with South Dade this year. Look at their track record over the past 4 seasons. 2016 9-2 2 losses to state champion Southridge 2017 8-2 lost to Southridge and state semifinalist Miami High 2018 10-2 lost to Southridge and state finalist Columbus 2019 9-1 2-point loss to Cardinal Gibbons

  22. I guess it's not an excuse, but in high school when you have 2 of your best players go out its gonna make a big difference. Lake city dont get alot of transfers so they cant just put someone else in. There was basically 5 starters out last night. Tell what team can win against a good team with that many players out?

    2019 pick em champ

BAD BIRD I told you guys it was over 6 weeks ago. I’m going to sit out the playoffs. I’ll let someone else win so 2 people get a trophy.

  28. I don't know what happened (injuries, breakdown in team chemistry?), but Columbia has gone backward at exactly the wrong time of year after getting off to a great start.

  32. That was an exciting game. I was coaching college that year up in Jacksonville. Me and my wife drove down to Miami to watch. Of course, I had just left coaching at Armwood after the prior season, so I had incentive to go.

    RPI frustrations

I really like the RPI. It’s the best method the FHSSA has ever used to help determine the “strongest” teams within each classification. There will be detractors and whiners with every selection process (See At-Large teams in the NCAA basketball tournament). But the FHSAA is light years ahead of where they’ve been when it comes to creating a more competitive playoff field. The only other major change that would help ensure we have the absolute best state tournament, would be to shrink the number of classifications but we all know that might take some doing. So from a spectator’s perspective, Kudos FHSAA for taking this important leap.

  34. I will be surprised if they make it out of the 1st round. The offense is gonna have to play really good.

  35. By far worst defensive performance ever seen personally by Columbia in my life Our defense looked better in games we were running clocked then they have tonight
