Suspended 1 game for running an illegal, padded practice. 

 

I wonder what/if the fine was?

He shouldn't be able to cop out by serving the suspension during a kickoff classic. That should be during a regular season game

The situation doesn't look that serious at all just going full pads a day earlier? doesn't seem to serious so him serving a game suspension in the KOC game seems about right. I wonder who recorded their practice or turned them in lol? must be a rival or someone in district....

Mashburns, that was my first thought as well. Who took time out of their day to report this?  Due to Chaminade-Madonna's rapid ascension to power I'm sure they stepped on a few toes along the way, but they've put together a good product and they aren't exactly bragging about what they have on social media or trashing teams they've defeated on social media.   Interesting to see if anything comes from this or not

Agree I mean we see and hear worst things than this not just from the state but we hear worst things about programs down south and this guy just went full pads a day early if he knew or not I don't see something major coming from this at all but you are right they are building a pretty good program down there

The story itself says that they started in full pads three days early. If they went full speed hitting and some kid injures his neck or something, the school/county/FHSAA could ask "why were you in full pads before you were supposed to be?"

It's not the biggest deal in the world but they shouldn't let him use the suspension on a game that doesn't count. That practice counted. The game should count. It's given him no incentive not to do it again.

Whether one agrees with the rules or not, they are intended to protect the kids and every one of us has the responsibility to report infractions.  

Coach Jones says on his twitter "nothing personal, just business."  If he lives by that mantra, hopefully he doesn't take it personally that someone reported him for not fulfilling his duties as a coach...to know and uphold the rules.      

If I was the principal, I would be questioning  why nobody on the coaching staff was aware of the infraction or felt comfortable challenging the hc.  The whole staff is culpable.  Not picking on Chaminade...would say the same for any team.

True the game doesn't count. But they will prepare for it just like a real game. It's not like the NFL in an exhibition game where they pull the starters after one quarter. They will play as if it's a real game and they will prepare as if it's a real game !

Not true. Last year Chaminade pulled their starters at halftime against Deerfield. They approached it exactly like an NFL exhibition game.

Most teams pull their starters by the 4th of KOC. Many do it at halftime.  Several will play JV kids the 4th.  Really depends on size of program, but most with 40+ kids do that.

They may prepare like it's a real game, but it's not a real game. Doesn't count to the standings or to helping Chaminade make the playoffs. So Jones is getting off light is he's able to use his suspension on that game.

I think for what rule he is guilty of breaking the KOC fits IMO
