Private schools as a whole have won 83 state football titles awarded by the FHSAA.  About 3/4 of those titles were won by a private school from 1 of 3 counties.

1. Which are the 3 counties?

2. Of those counties, private schools from this county have won more state titles than any other county?  Which county?

Duval, Broward and Palm Beach  are the 3 counties.  Which has the most private school state titles?

Going with Duval

Bolles, UC and TCA I believe combined have over 30 between them

On the flip side Duval only has 2 publics who have won state titles with only 1 having multiple

Ironically, Palm Beach still has more public than private titles unlike Duval and Broward.

Those three have been poaching talent from the Gateway schools for decades, which, except for a few instances, is one of the reasons why they do not schedule games against them.  It is the number one reason why the Gateway (DCPS) schools in general have had very little success at the state level.

It is certainly not the number one reason why Gateway schools have had very little success. It has much more to do with a lack of coaching stability (often times due to incompetent administration, for instance the Jackson coach Atwater being fired after greatly improving the team)

Yep, that too.  Most schools are a coaching merry-go-round.  Doesn't help that they are expected to coach for nothing more than teacher pay and a small stipend.  Moving administrators from school to school has always been a problem with DCPS for as long as I can remember.  Nothing is ever consistent.  In fact, DCPS is just a complete train wreck from the top down.  I guess it all contributes.

Yes it is. They do a complete disservice to the kids, I feel so bad for them.

    • In today's recruiting era or I mean school choice era, a program in a talent rich area may implode for one year and then get a new coach and completely reload the next year and win a title. MNW imploded for two years in the 2022 (6-5) and 2023 (4-6) seasons with a combined record of 10-11. Along came Teddy and numerous transfers and boom 12-2 with a state title. Back in the day this would be a program disaster, not no more though.
    • I have 3 good friends that are retired from Hillsborough High. Ken Weiss, former track head coach and Charlie & Georgene Diaz.  Charlie, aka as Carlos, was the college compliance counselor and PA guy for the football games.  All three have always spoken highly of Earl and consider him a good friend.  I have a few Terrier football shirts that they have given me over the years.
    • Short term it's too late and players on this team are too invested to leave now. If it's just Teddy getting suspended, it'll probably be similar to what TFA will deal with. If anything, the team might play with more of a chip on their shoulders. LonI don't think many felt Teddy would be there a long time, anyway. How they fare long term depends on how things go at places like Central, Mater Academy and the other Dade schools. If one of those pops off and has an awesome year, they may get more of the talent in the future, so MNW may go back down to what they were before last season.
    • 57 teams per class is a travesty. What an embarrassment.
    • With all the off-season discussion, don't forget the FHSAA regular season kicks off in 5 weeks.  Last year, 460 teams competed in the 8 FHSAA championship classifications.  This year, 458 teams are competing in the FHSAA.  Not exactly the mass exodus that some were hoping for or predicting, but maybe it is coming down the road.  Or not.  In case you forgot your team's district or region foes, here are the 2025-26 FHSAA classifications:  https://fhsaa.com/sports/2020/1/28/FB_classifications.aspx Information on the SSAA football season can be found here:  https://www.sunshinestateathletics.com/page/show/5114520-football
