Thanks for sharing the attendance figures that are a little eye opening particularly since the numbers for most years are disappointing compared to 2007.  Also interesting that this years totals were the most since then (15 years ago).  Folks can draw their own conclusions of why this year was the best in your sample.

For Saturday's games in Ft. Lauderdale, I thought Lakeland and Venice both 'traveled well' and brought good crowds.  Same with Apopka Saturday night.  But credit to Columbus - they darn near filled up the home team side of the stands.   It was a sea of red.   Granted, they have proximity on their side, but I was impressed.

Another reason why the Metro and Suburban Classifications worked and were successful. No, I don't not get tired of being right all the time.

Close games and great attendance. The FHSAA might be on to something here. My valid point is confirmed again.

The average attendance was lower than 2008 (we had 9 games this year compared to previous years of 8), but yes, better attendance. It helps when hometown teams are in the finals (FSU High in Tallahassee, STA, American Heritage-Plantation, Miami Central for Ft. Lauderdale).

A little surprised that Venice and Lakeland didn't draw better than Mainland/Lake Wales considering both were in the early slot and that Venice/Lakeland was on Saturday.

I'm sure that Venice and Lakeland being frequent final four fliers was not nearly as exciting as for the Lake Wales and Mainland fans.

The city of Lake Wales shut down all the schools so fans could attend.
