They need to be. Mainland's offense is fine. However, I suspect they will need to strengthen their defense if they are going to beat Central. Particularly, I have concerns about their secondary. In prior years, I can recall many a nasty Corner-back and Safety at Mainland. I was not as impressed this year.

 

It would be good to see them finally get over the hump. Had Mainland campaigned in 8a or 5a, the school would have at least one state title to its credit over the last 5 years. Plus Daytona Dan is a fine guy and a true fan of Mainland. I would like to see his team make an appearance at the Citrus Bowl (sorry I can't use Camping World, it's not the same).

yea it would be nice to see Mainland finally get over the hump and finally dethrone Central and end their run at a potential 5 peat

A few of the Central coaches looked out of the press box and right at the Mainland coaches after Central scored on a 90 plus yarder earlier so they know they're their lol

I agree. They would beat Armwood! Niceville, may provide competition, though. I am not sure what to make of Vanguard at this point.

Good question. It has been a long time. Dan in Daytona would probably know off the top of his head as prior to this year, he had not missed a Mainland game since the late 1990s.

Vanguard has some offensive line issues right know from what I have heard and Bucholtz was living in the backfield against vanguard last night, N'kosi perry was litterally running for his life most of the night and was hitting all his throws on roll outs, so that tells me when vanguard meets a team the physical caliber of an Armwood they might be in for a long night

Tentically they played at ucf earlier this year but I'm unsure if they ever played on the field

Mainland may be the best overall team in the state this year (excepting IMG out as a fake ass recruited super team). Looking at what happened to STA slipping up against a multi loss BTW and the pending ass kicking they will receive at Gorman, and factoring in Mainland's impressive wins, it can only come down to Mainland and Central. Think this is finally the years for the Buccaneers.
