OHS KOWBOYS vs LAKE WALES HIGHLANDERS

Should be a very competitive game between two solid teams.  Both want and need the win to bolster the resume in the playoff rankings to get some home field edge in the early rounds.  Osceola has had a solid 10 days by overwhelming Viera 49-9 to clinch the district, then on 2 days rest defeating Apopka at their place 14-6.   See we are in the PickEms this week and thanks to those of you showing us some love.  It is a road game but our kids look up to the challenge.  I am out of state visiting family but will certainly be following the NFHS telecast.  GO KOWBOYS!!

I think the 2 hour drive would be worth it to watch this clash! Highlanders at home have a solid homefield advantage. They’ve come up short on the road vs their 2 toughest games, but weren’t overwhelmed. They’re a hard out. Kowboys looking solid, especially that D(I can only go by the numbers)! Last time I went to a Lake Wales game, they clobbered Columbia in the playoffs. They jumped on the Tigers fast! Kowboys gotta be ready soon as they get off the bus! Playing with the numbers( SOS, HF, O, D, Common opp etc….) I’ve got the Kowboys by a hair. Haven’t seen either team this year so eye test is eliminated in my pick!

I remember recommending you attend the LW/Columbia game over Lakeland/Osceola.  I really thought that would be the better game.  On that note, Go Highlanders!

I think Lake Wales did a good job scheduling this season. Seminole and Jones are state title contenders. Their light schedule last season really hurt them come playoff time. I think LW bounces back from last week. I’m going to swap scores from you.

Kowboys starting to pound the interior of Lake Wales line 7-3.  Early 2nd quarter. 
 

Halftime LW up 10-7.  Kowboys have made a lot of mistakes.  Lake Wales passing attack has led to their 3 point advantage.  Kowboys TD drive was when they primarily ran between the tackles.  Lake Wales can score quickly via the air.

 

1:15 left in 3rd.  Kowboys drive about 80 yards in their classic ball control style.  Kowboys up 14-10. As soon as I stopped typing Kowboys block punt and recover it in the end zone.  Now up 21-10.

20 yard TD pass puts Osceola up 28-10.  They have controlled the tempo pretty much the whole game.  8:30 left.

LW passes it way down the field to make the score 28-17 Kowboys.

Game went as I expected as it would be competitive but LW wouldn't score more than 14 points and that might have been the case if not for questionable PI late in the game that led to their last TD.  Did get our big OL back as he got good reps throughout the game and pound the rock was the difference.  Thanks for your take and would have enjoyed seeing you again.  Recommending the LW vs Columbia game only made sense if you wanted to be on the winning side.  Local paper (Lakeland Ledger) and the Polk'sters all were wrong.

Should have an easier outing next week vs Lakewood at home, then will get 2 weeks of both rest and preparation for the playoffs.  Schedule appears to be headed for the regional game between OHS and Armwood, but not taking any game for granted.

That seems to be LW’s Achilles. They just cannot score enough points. Good win for Kissimmee. Armwood-Kiss will be a great matchup if it happens. Pretty safe to say with the current rankings, Armwood would host

They certainly have earned homefield for all regional games.  Hope we have earned the first 2 rounds as you referenced the Jones game vs LW.  We also played Jones and should have won in regulation but for clock management forcing overtime.  Seems like the algorithms don't like blue and gold.  Our other loss was to Lake Mary who beat up on Seminole  when we were handicapped without our stud RB Taevion Swint.
