  1. With great sorrow I would like to announce I may be stepping away from the game of football as a fan and spectator indefinitely. After witnessing what I just witnessed out of the Miami Hurricanes I can no longer with good conscience support such things. It is taking a toll on my health & mental stability. Thank you all for the laughs ober the years. God bless

  2. The nerve of people coming on a board like this and expecting to give their opinion.

  6. @Jambun82 there was no need to post this three times. I am not dimwitted. I also happened to be at that game. I will keep my opinion of the officiating to myself.

  7. Brady came from Melbourne, Blake Boda from Daytona Seabreeze and Davin Wydner from Holy Trinity. So past 3 years were out of school zone. DJ Arroyo beforehand moved from Vero after his freshman year. So he moved into the school zone. Before DJ it was Bruce Judson who was home grown

  8. I agree. Also another reason why there are jokes going around about the refs making things even for Brevard with Broward with the Titusville win over Calvery Christian

  10. We could ask FHSAA. They're good at figuring out those things.

  11. You may be, or may not be more qualified than anyone on this board, but either way you really need to get over yourself. Coaches make mistakes (ask Cristobal) and referees, being HUMAN, do as well. If you are unwilling to concede that, you are absolutely delusional. And no one needs your stamp of crotchety approval.

  14. Question, did you watch the Canes Gt game last night? & if so how do you feel about the fumble(not a fumble) that was reviewed & still stood? egregious and nationally televised Referee mistake. Do you feel highschool refs are above this ?

  16. Broncos harassed QB all night. Plus pretty much shut down the run. Broncos outcoached explorers with innovative plays. Homestead had many big yardage plays including a kickoff return for a TD which ignited them. Columbus looked pedestrian for pretty much 2 qtrs. Looked like they panicked when they got behind. The faithful Explorer OL got manhandled.

  18. As fate would have it, the winning TD was hauled in by Christian Leahy of Orlando Edgewater. In the 2019 State Title game against St. Thomas, he had too long touchdowns to give Edgewater the lead at half time. Edgewater went on to lose the game by 4 or 5 points (I don't remember) when St. Thomas intercepted the ball in their own end zone with seconds on the clock, after Edgewater had marched down field with less than 2 minutes left in the game.

  22. The weakness is that the DC does not understand how to make adjustments or biltz. The offense played well considering they had so many backups playing. After Benjamin, that will give my blue devils almost 4weeks to get healthy and for the HC or administration to do something about that DC!!!! Please!!!!

  23. Is there any chance of getting taxpayer funded insurance and pensions for officials similar to what police officers receive?

  24. And he got banged up quite a bit. Eventually injured on our last series and left the game. We don't really have a viable backup either. Coach Dunn really need to protect him better. Let's hope everyone is healthy for next week and Mendoza in particular can shake off this poor performance.

  25. gotta love my young broadcaster though. Trying to rationalize that we only need 2 TDs with successful 2-pt conversions. In 80 seconds. LOL

  26. Agreed. This is the worst game I have seen him play in two seasons. No excuses though - the Homestead front has been giving him pressure all game.

  27. Homestead takes a 19-10 lead with seconds left in the first half. They have exploited some weakness in Columbus's pass defense.

  28. Broncos score on 4th down, but I missed the pass and completion. PAT good. 13-10 Broncos up

  30. The other QBs that transferred into Cocoa were actually still in Cocoa's school zone being that they lived in Sharpes and barely outside of the Zone being in Port St John

  31. We just have to be ready to stop the run for 4 quarters, because Hawthorne has more interceptions (3) then completions (0) the last 2 games and we can’t turn the ball over (we have 7 the last 2 games). I think this schedule, especially with the bigger schools, has us prepared for them. It’s just the kids ready for a 4 quarter, fist fight

  33. Mary Lou? Or nolebull?

  34. Sure. Cocoa recruits, but the meat of their program is still based on homegrown kids. I kind of mentioned them as an afterthought, because of the fact that they do get a fair number of transfers at critical positions.

  35. Privates never bitched, just said "Let's Get Even" and started recruiting. This whole narrative is laughable as back in that era those same schools a year or two prior or after could have had completely different (winning) records. The last 20 years have been a complete takeover of the haves and have nots with little to zero variation. Who you fooling??

  36. This is almost 40 years ago. Things were so vastly different back then. The private schools had not yet invested into athletics (for the most part) to enhance their school's profile so most of their players were rich white kids. I remember playing against Bishop Verot and Cardinal Mooney back then and laughing at these kids trying to catch our speedy skill players. The public schools had strict transfer rules so they were at the mercy of whichever group of kids were moving through their system at any given four-year interval. That's why schools would rise and fall a few times per decade. The traditional public powers were a little more resistant to the down periods because they tended to be in a talent rich areas but even they would miss the playoffs some years. Fast forward to today and the only time you see a public power down is if they had forfeits or suffered from a mass transfer exodus out (see Lakewood this year... live by the sword, die by the sword). The privates never have down years and load up on kids who probably wouldn't be attending their schools without a free ride. Non-powers develop kids only to see them get stolen once they are productive, repeating their cycle of staying down and the powers staying up.

  37. I agree about promotion/relegation, but I disagree that elite schools would be against it. I don't think a school like STA, Miami Central, Venice, Dr. Phillips, Cocoa, Chaminade want to steam roll teams sorry teams to success, I think those programs (once forced into the elite classification) would admit that they like it more. I think the problem will be those near elite teams will be upset, those good (and occasionally great) schools will feel that the system is stacked against them. Are there travel logistic problems with an elite division, probably... but I think schools and communities can overcome some of those problems with a bit of creativity.

  38. That explains it all ! Once they got rid of you in 1993 that started a playoff streak still going to this day. Although they did get stripped one year during the playoffs for ineligible participation they still were good on the field. * Daytona Mainland's ongoing public school playoff record started a year later in 1994. The 2023 playoffs will give Mainland thirty in a row. 1994-2023. Nulli, if memory serves me right, FAMU was also "scraping the bottom" in your years. Coincidence, you say ? I think not...shaking my head in pity. * Homer plug

  39. Let's also not forget George Jenkins was the founder of Publix, which has very fine deli sandwiches. If we're ranking teams based on the quality of sub sandwiches made by grocery stores founded by alumni, George Jenkins will DOMINATE all others.

  40. I will continue to beat the drum of a promotion/relegation system as the only fair to create classifications and not run amok of the state legislature's love of private school/recruiting/transfers. Use the MaxPreps Rankings 7A and 6A - 32 Teams 5A and 4A - 64 Teams 3A and 2A - 128 Teams 1A - Rural - 34 Teams 7A and 6A all teams make playoffs required to play 7 games against other 7A or 6A teams. Bottom 4 teams move down a class, top 4 move up Seeding based on rankings 5A and 4A 32 teams make playoffs 8 team district, 8 districts district champs and 6 wildcards per region Bottom 8 teams move down, top 8 team move up (only 4 move up to 6A) 3A and 2A 32 teams make playoffs 8 team district, 16 districts, district champs and 4 wildcards per region Bottom 8 teams move down, top 8 team move up Rankings based on the previous 4 years rankings, reclassification every year. As a team gets better, their competition gets better, but a team that has a great class of seniors for one season doesn't lose out on a chance of a state title. Someone is going to complain that the 3A/2A teams don't deserve titles, who cares? They had to win a bunch of games throughout the season and post-season to win the championship. The best part is that this can be applied to all team sports, which means that if you have a great football team but a lousy basketball team than you can be in different classifications and not feel boxed in for one sport.

  41. A VERY small percentage of ALL private schools have dominated over the past twenty 20 years. If not for Bolles, STA and AHP, we probably would not be having this discussion, because those are the schools that really held the publics back from winning championships. And when you look at state final results over the years, public schools have done just fine when competing against the private schools. Disproportionate YES . A huge problem some make it out to be NO
