I think Norland underestimated BP. Probably thought it would be an easy game and then midway through the first quarter they realized BP had a very good running game and stout defense. Had Norland taken them more seriously, the result may have been different. 

Generally, a state title is never in the bag till you either open up an insurmountable lead, or the final seconds tick off the clock.

If they did underestimate them then that’s poor sportsmanship and poor leadership from the coaching staff. 
 

you underestimate no one , especially in the state title game. And especially not a team who had just beat a very good American heritage team on the road as double digit underdogs. Berkeley prep went through some very good schools to get to the title game. That alone should’ve had the Vikings on notice. And understanding how hard it is to even get to a title game they should’ve been playing like they lives depended on it from the opening kick.

Norland probably thought they had the title in the bag when they disposed of Central and AHP lost. You are right, though, you don't estimate a team that had  a tough path to the title game.

Still alive and kicking with the expectation that our Kowboys are too.  Nulli, we are now in 6A so won't have to contend with your Dreadnaughts this year but sounds like teams to beat will likely by Armwood maybe Plant out of our region who are highly regarded. .  If we can survive that you have a couple of panhandle teams, but stiff competition from Mandarin, Bartram Trail and Bucholtz from the Jax region and Homestead, Monarch, etc.. out of the south.   Looking forward to the opening kickoff.

Open the season against Treasure Coast (game #1) and Lake Mary (game #2) whose QB is considered among the very best in the entire state (53 TD's last year as a sophomore- Noah Grubbs).  Have our traditional (101st year edition) rivalry game with St. Cloud plus district games that are mandatory which should be our weakest opponents.  We end the season with the likes of Apopka, Jones and Lake Wales.  Much better situated this year injury wise to open the season compared to last year, plus expect better QB play from last year's inexperienced sophomore who has got that year under his belt plus slightly bigger and stronger.  Expectations have not changed.

VIF here. I've been taking time over the past few weeks to teach myself Hebrew (not nearly as tough to learn as some say it is,) in hope of visiting Israel when the war is over. Once you learn the alphabet, and how verbs behave, it's very straightforward, really.

We open the season at home with Tampa Bay Tech, who averaged 37 points per game last year and return two very good wide receivers in Dallas Wilson and Santoyo Isaac. Then it's on to home vs Miami Northwestern, who have made a complete 180-degree turn with the, "acquisition," of some 16 transfers as well as the hire of Teddy Bridgewater. They also return almost the entire core of players they had from 2023 season. On to back-to-back trips to Bishop Verot and Port Charlotte, a home game against Cocoa, a short trip to Lehigh, a brutal showdown against IMG National, at Riverview for the district crown, at Clearwater Central Catholic, and finally, a home game against Sarasota before a week 10 bye.

This will not be an easy season for us. Venice comes in as the prohibitive favorite in class 7A, but you can't take anything for granted. Least of all, with teams like Miami Columbus, Sanford Seminole, Lake Mary, Vero Beach, and Treasure Coast in the way. Glad football is finally back, though, and great to hear from everyone!

I more than likely will be at the Venice vs Cocoa game and catching the Cocoa game at IMG

Would love to meet you if you're there. Cocoa averaged 35 points per game last year to Venice's 47. Cocoa's offense could be even better this year with the return of Brady Hart, Niko Teeter, Jayvan Boggs, Malachi Coney, and Dj Bryant. 

Venice returns Ryan Matulevich, Malaki Corbett, Noah Chieffo, Jackson Scott, Dorien Jones, and Jamarice Wilder. We were very fortunate to have Winston Watkins, 4-star wide receiver from Naples FB, as well as Jayce Nixon transfer to us. Our offensive line should be strong with the return of 3-year starters Matthew Locicero and Anthony Tanaka as well as the transfer of Al Oliver from Riverview. The guard positions will be a work in progress as Roman Mock, Evan Spencer, Collin Carter, and Brock Hupp battle for starting positions.

Cocoa's wr group is stacked. DJ Bryant is now playing safety exclusively. The offensive line is the question mark with one returning starter but the line is definitely revamped with some big bodies that transferred in. Malachi Coney is the #2 back behind junior Latrison Lane who ran for a lil over 1k. Defense should be extremely solid again and rumblings that it could be even better but we will see how the front 7 compares to last season. 

WR group returns the names you mentioned but also got the young guys that's coming up and a few transfers in Viera's #1 option Zack Pillow, Eau Gallie's #1 option D.L. Hardison who returns back to Cocoa after leaving his 8th grade year. And another athlete from Merritt Island in Chris Kelly who could also play RB or DB. Almost forgot 2027 athlete Tank White also transferred in and will more than likely play both wr and db as well. He's currently committed to Syracuse
